  1. I like your take on it, Zombee. I can relate to that.... I imagine a lot of stuff (feelings, time, experiences, names & numbers) in colours, unintentionally. Or at least, there may be some intent but the colours are just there anyway. I use the colours for my own personal correspondences. Your notion of the coloured threads twanging really resonates. You're right about not over-thinking because then it disappears.... especially concerning scent, I think. It might be a good exercise for me to practice smelling scents that aren't actually there. I've really wandered off from my OP now! Going back to my OP, well, the next time I want someone to make contact with me, I might try visualising the coloured thread and giving it a good twang.....see what happens
  2. Thanks for that, Amarilis. I will have a look on good old allposters...... this link has lots of info about hidden shoes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concealed_shoes I remember reading about Walpurgis Night (as it was called in English) in a book I had as a child. It was a witchy book - I had loads of them. Lots are still floating around the house in various places. One I recall was A Book of Witches by Ruth Manning-Sanders. I think it was a book of short, traditional European stories - perhaps the Walpurgisnacht story is in that. I'm going to search for it.
  3. thanks Odalibus and Solanaceae for answering my question.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- I'm in the UK, so very distinct seasonal shifts, and the Autumn (fall) is starting here now too and will also reach a peak around 31st October (that's what I want to call it for now)! You've made me realise that we're talking about another "liminal space." That makes sense.
  4. I watched a documentary called The Pendle Witch Child on BBC4. Here's a youtube link to it, so you can watch it if you don't get the BBC. It's a good programme I think.
  5. -------------------------------------------- "When I cast something, its a whole different story. Its automatic. I know every step and exactly what i need to do. No research at all. I just do. Its like something takes over and I'm just the vessel with the intention." ------------------------------------------------- I've quoted part of your post which actually I could have written myself. I don't have such a problem with it though - and it might not be so much of a hurdle as you suggest. Why not get right back to working with plants again? That could be the way forward. What plants did you have success with? Look into them some more. When it comes to looking up what colour means what - don't bother. Develop your own, personal correspondences. You might have them already without realising.
  6. Thank you - I enjoyed it too.I'm familiar with a lot of this European magic. I like the picture called The Old Hall, Fairies by Moonlight - I'd love to find a print of that!
  7. Interesting. I'm feeling more of a pull suddenly - and it's coincided with the onset of some more Autumnal weather. ---------------- ------------------------------------------ Solanaceae, why is the veil thinnest in the fall?
  8. NFTM - I am not able to say whether you were imagining things, or whether something was/is going on, although reading your experience it looks like it WAS something or other. I'm sure another poster will have the ability to post something more constructive! However, I do have a question - which is, what is your motivation for this? WHY do you want to call one of these entities?
  9. what you see in the mirror isn't what others see, because the mirror flips your image.
  10. I'm reading Practical Psychic Self-Defense by Robert Bruce, and think this quote is interesting: ".......... animals grow in sensitivity by living with sensitive owners."
  11. ------------------------------------------------- Not only is it fun, I think it's a load more effective, energy wise! Especially in an ongoing, organic working. My recent finds include a load of old baskets, which I use for harvesting and drying herbs. When they originally came my way, I didn't know what I wanted them for although I did know I wanted them. (someone threw them in free of charge with a load of other stuff I'd bought at a clearance sale). They eventually made their use clear, and now they feel "part of the furniture."
  12. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Perhaps I owe you an explanation...... When I said nowhere to be seen, I meant from my point of view. Not necessarily from the wider mundane point of view, if you understand me. You know when you do an invisibility working, so people simply don't notice you? Well I kind of did a backwards one of these. So that I don't notice her and her silliness. I don't see her, and I am protected. She may or may not have a general gut feeling that there's no point wasting her own energy on her pointless behaviour, but in any case, I don't see her. Packs of dogs notwithstanding!
  13. ---------------------------------------------------- Yes, Odalibuc, I think I know what you mean. I think I'm feeling that. For example, rather than shredding a load of confidential paper, I've got into burning it in the grate and have spent hours doing that, really wanting that fire energy and enjoying making a fire and using it and seeing what happens with it. I think my world at least has more fire in it right now. @Oroboros - that's interesting - thanks for your thoughts. I hadn't set out to scry, but I do scry often and I suppose that's the way it went, on reflection. Or at least I think I scry..... does scrying involve asking a specific question and then looking for the answer? if so, I don't do that (I use cards for that). Rather, I look into things (clouds, cream in my coffee, fire, my eyelids) and "see what I can see." I like your point about the lavender causing the green colour / not causing the green colour. However, as I say, I didn't have any particular intent at the time; it all just came about and I watched it like you'd watch a film. @Zombee - thanks for sharing about your Red Therapy. That is really useful to know about; I can use that with any colour! Colour is really important to me and you've given me some ideas.
  14. Ah thank you Zombee I appreciate it. I'm aware my OP is a bit of a non-thing, if that makes sense. I don't really have the words to describe what it was like. I'm going to research a little on the salamander. It's funny because fire never was really my thing, but I think I'm finding a way to engage with that element.
  15. I sat for ages last night meditating I suppose you could call it, whilst gazing into my chiminea. I really enjoy doing this in the dark. I'm mindful of the other topic all about everything being "a sign" and don't want to over analyse it but just wonder if there is any link between the logs disintegrating into heart shapes, then faces, and when I drew closer, the most amazing green sparks that began whirling around for ages. I had thrown some dried lavender on - perhaps that's what caused it. But I've never seen these kinds of sparks before no matter what I've burnt. They were like liquid emerald. I was amazed and thankful for the show. I had been working at gaining some energy from the fire's spirit. Would anyone share what they see in their fires and what it inspires them to do? I might ponder on the colour green and see where it leads me. And maybe fire elementals.
  16. I think with the moving round from the left, and finishing off the cleansing in a specific way, is a bit meaningless unless it's already your way of doing things. In other words, don't stress too much about doing it in a special "correct" way, because you have to work out what is the right way for you. I would suggest opening all the windows for a good airing, and doing a thorough clean. Florida Water will help! If I was moving house, I would do that, light a candle and probably smudge with sage and lavender; and as Aina mentioned, I would call for support from my ancestors as some of them always move with me. Out of interest, what does the apartment "feel" like to you?
  17. -------------- I have a personal anecdote..... Someone's been attempting to undermine me in my work (and in the process showing themself as insecure, in my opinion). Anyway, I happened upon a photograph of said person, a photo of them banging a drum. I "sat" on the photo for a time, rather than rushing into a working with it. I just placed it face down on a shelf and put a jar of glue on it. The glue jar was just there, I didn't seek it out, but I suppose it was useful to just stick the person down for a while. Anyway, I didn't do any kind of working but spent a few days mulling it over, on and off. I thought about ways of binding, banishing, etc. but nothing leapt at me, and besides, I have had more important things on my mind. I felt annoyance at this person, and don't like their "vibe" - but those energies felt of no use to me in a spell. Plus, I don't mean any harm whatsoever to the person, just wanted them to stop their negative comments at me when we are together in meetings because it's not helpful to them (rather than harmful to me) and just annoying. When mulling over ways of binding with knotting or glueing I found my feelings of annoyance were resurfacing, but not in a constructive or useful way, so I just "parked" it in my mind. I told myself it would be better to wait for a waning moon anyway. Then, one morning I was led to tear off some foil to wrap a sandwich for someone, and I then tore off another piece, and went and wrapped the person's photograph in it, saying something like, "stop your banging, stop your drumming, I've FOILED you." The person is now foiled. So I ended up acting on a kind of impulse after all, but this felt like the correct impulse. I think I waited until a beneficial moment arose, when I had the correct energy and emotion. Whether it works remains to be seen. As for spell failures - here's another thing. There's a person in our team who for a long time had not been pulling their weight. I will cut a long story short (because we tried many solutions) and just say that in the end, I did a working with a chant to tell them to just find another job where they would be more happy. Then, an email came through, requesting a reference for someone who was supposedly working for us, but applying for another job. The only thing was, the name mentioned in the email reference request was not anyone working for us. The person in question HAD applied for another job with these people, but not followed it through.... then, those other employers, with whom our team member had applied for a post but backed out, had hired someone else altogether, then got names and referees muddled, and asked US for a reference in error for someone else who never even worked for us. In the meantime that team member is still with us, not applied for any more jobs as far as i'm aware, but has got their act together somewhat and is now more valued with us. I don't know what happened there but it seems a bit of a muddle.
  18. Not lemonade but ice lollies - here's a link to a similar recipe, it could be adapted possibly to make actual lemonade? I would stick to English lavender personally.... French doesn't have the same scent. I like hidcote and munstead best. http://learningherbs.com/newsletter/lavender-lemonade-popsicles/ Perhaps I should have put this in the recipes section, but I'm responding to Elaenior's post above.
  19. Not flying exactly but it felt so similar- my body was powered like a motor boat and I was able to speed through and around a load of other swimmers. I really enjoyed it- especially the acceleration at will. Sorry to hear you woke up exhausted from your dream Elaenior-
  20. Oh Elaenior I AM going to complain- this weather is crazy, I can hardly function. Sorry to hear you've had a migraine today .....
  21. ------------------------------ Aureilian, that website is great, thanks for posting the link. The courses look good but way out of my price range. However, there is loads of useful info on there without buying a course! edited to add: I might buy a poster, though ;)
  22. -------------------------- Yes I agree, I'm happy for my craft to be unspoken and silent. Silence is golden, in lots of ways. Secrecy is important to me too. A couple of my daughters seem to know a few things themselves anyway. I have spells hidden in plain sight; books on my kindle that no one else can see, or actual books that to the casual observer are just country recipe books, herbal lore, art & craft books and so on; there are loads of books in this household anyway, and eclectic interests within my family.I have ribbon boxes and sewing boxes and odds & ends boxes which are just there. I work with very young children, and lots of my funny concoctions can be explained away as experiments to see what craft activities will work with the children. Always best to practice that homemade play-doh recipe at home first, in advance of doing it with the kids! We all love candles anyway, and incense. One of my altars is just the kitchen window sill, and the other more of an ancestor altar consisting of an art nouveau sideboard with a tree of life design on the doors, and grandparent related stuff on it that has always been there. Herbs are drying on there at the moment, but no one looks twice at them really. I don't use a specific atheme, cauldron or wand; I have kitchen utensils which are used both for crafting purposes by me and mundane purposes by others, although they know not to touch my silver teaspoons! I guess those around me who I live with just take it all in by osmosis and have never asked direct questions. But as far as going out of my way to alert outsiders to it, well, like I said, silence is golden.
  23. I've copied and pasted the following from Wikipedia, for anyone who is interested. ..... The early English version of the shrub arose from the medicinal cordials of the 15th century.[1] The drink gained popularity among smugglers in the 1680s trying to avoid paying import taxes for goods shipped from mainland Europe:[1][3] To avoid detection, smugglers would sometimes sink barrels of spirits off-shore to be retrieved later;[1] the addition of fruit flavours aided in masking the taste of alcohol fouled by sea water.[1] ] The shrub was itself a common ingredient in punches, either on its own or as a simple mix with brandy or rum.[1] It was also served during the Christmas season mixed with raisins, honey, lemon, sherry, rum and other spirits.[1] The shrub was sold in most public houses throughout England in the 17th and 18th centuries, although the drink fell out of fashion by the late 1800s.[1] The American version of the shrub has its origins in 17th century England where vinegar was used as an alternative to citrus juices in the preservation of berries and other fruits for the off-season.[10][11] Fruit preserves made in this fashion were themselves known as shrubs[10] and the practice carried over to colonial America.[4][6] By the 19th century, typical American recipes for shrubs used vinegar poured over fruit—traditionally berries—which was left to infuse anywhere from overnight up to several days; afterwards, the fruit would be strained out and the remaining liquid would be mixed with a sweetener such as sugar or honey and then reduced to make a syrup.[6][8][12] The sweet-and-sour syrup could be mixed with either water or soda water and served as a soft drink, or it could be used as a mixer in alcoholic cocktails.[4][11][12] Shrubs eventually fell out of popularity with the advent of home refrigeration.[10][13] The serving of vinegar-based shrub drinks became popular again in 2011 and 2012 in American restaurants and bars.[4][14][15][16] The trend has also been noted in bars in Canada[10][17] as well as London.[18] Etymology[edit] As used here, the term "shrub" is a metathetic variant of the word "shurb", derived from the Arabic word sharāb meaning "to drink".[2][19] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is all new to me, it's amazing how much I'm learning on here. I'm certainly going to be making some shrubs!
