Lo-fi for Witches I found this the other day and I think it really fits the vibe for this year! 🙂
  2. Honestly speaking from the perspective from a new witch, it's a bit difficult until you can actually learn to understand that the craft isn't supposed to be a specific way. it's supposed to be yours right? No exact way to do it. But in the beginning, especially if you've only been exposed to trendy online witchcraft, you start to get skewed and think that's what you need to do. That's how your altar should look, that's how your bottles and herb containers should look like. I think at some point you find yourself buying things you have no need for or don't even know how to use. So in that sense, I get early witch consumerism. But otherwise, sometimes it's just easier to find what you need from a shop. Especially if you're not fortunate enough to live somewhere where you can forage. Also there is the idea of accessibility, especially if you aren't exactly financially stable. Sometimes it will be cheaper to buy an already crafted or gathered item versus going out of your way to spend time and money to build it/collect it yourself. Maybe my opinion is a bit less valuable because I'm still fresh, but I think a bit of consumerism is allowed when it can connect you to your craft. I am also very forgiving when it comes to how someone delegates their finances. I think with enough time, you'll have gathered everything you need, and can start to craft on your own and not have to rely on shops. But it can still be difficult. I don't think we can escape consumerism, and I definitely think it takes away a bit of the connection you'd otherwise have if you'd made/collected the items yourself. But all in all, as long as you are aware of it and don't abuse it, participating in consumerism is fine. like @PsychicThreads said, buying charged water is a bit strange and so is buying anything that is readily available to you. But sometimes that one herb you need, the one you wish not to substitute, is just not in your area. Everything is better when it has your own touch. But your craft will always be yours even when using purchased items.
