  4. I've never really had an affinity for tarot specifically. I lucked out and found an oracle deck that basically screamed at me every time I went into my local shop until I finally bought it. Every single reading I have done for other people has been spot on, though per clients, almost brutally honest. That being said, I had never successfully read for myself until burning gum arabic and calling on ancestors for support. Since employing this method, I've had two accurate readings. Does anyone else have this issue? I've been told that some decks, whether oracle or tarot are just finicky. Some will only work for the reader, some will only work for the clients. I'm happy to have found a solution for my particular problem, but I'm curious as to others' thoughts on the issue. Does anyone else have a hard time reading themselves?
  5. So I've had this idea for awhile, to astral project at will in order to speak to my higher self, and maybe a few spirits that passed on from this world that I knew . I think it would be a great divination tool in order to connect with my higher self. As of late, I've been trying to meditate more in order to "get out" of my body and using shields in case I manage to get out one day. But I was wondering if anyone else has been able to do this? And if so, what have been your results?
  6. These are glimpses of some of my rune sets. They are hand painted stones I gather from the glacial rivers here. Each are painted with Elder Futhark on one side, and on the obverse sides such designs as bumblebees, wild roses, thistles, shamrocks, and bear paws. The Sacred Oak set has acorns and leaves painted in spring and fall colors. I keep them in draw string pouches that lay out to become casting cloths. Runes hold a deep fascination for me, though my divination skills in a word, suck. Nonetheless, I find their power compelling and inspiring and have been painting these stones since I was 8 or 9 years old. I used to leave them stashed in the woods...
  7. I've recently started learning about oracle cards and currently I am trying to bond with my Clair De Lune Lenormand oracle deck. Right now to familiarize myself with these cards I've only been doing two card readings. This post is about the very small session I did for myself yesterday in regards to my current relationship with my boyfriend whom I live with. The first question I asked was for the cards to define my current relationship with my boyfriend. For this I drew the heart and the whip. The heart signifies what you would expect: love which I take as a direct representation of us. The whip signifies stress and repetition. I do agree with this as a general whole we've both been very stressed in all areas of our lives both personally as there have been a lot of stressful shifts but also with each other. Things have been a bit more tense than usual due to the stressful factors in our lives and we have been having a bit of a bout with repetition, doing the same exact routine every day without change or confronting anything that's been bothering us. My second and final question was what we should focus on right now. When I drew my cards I got the house and the bear. The house could represent our physical apartment that we share but I think that since we've lived together for awhile now, despite not having kids or being matrimonially binding to one another I would consider us to have developed a familial relationship to one another. The bear symbolizes protection, nurturing, and strength. With that in mind I feel like the cards are telling me that we need to focus on protecting what we currently have built between the two of us, also that we need to strengthen our bond. I think by being more attentive to one another's needs we would be successful with that. Overall I feel like this reading was a success despite being it being so short and sweet. I feel like my energy was pretty in tune to the reading, I also shared my reading with my boyfriend after for verification to see what he thought, figuring it's only fair since he is one of the subjects in the reading this time around. He also found it to be accurate.
  8. There was no beginning to this path I'm walking. No moment when I decided "I want to be a witch". It just... kind of happened. You see, when I was still a child I had these visions, sudden glimpses to the future. I didn't think much of it, since I thought everyone saw them. Later on I of course learned that that was not the case. I wish that I could learn to use this ability, but I've never been able to consciously reach that stage of mind. I just... kind of accidentally drift into it when I'm spacing out. If anyone has any suggestions how to work on this I would gladly take it! Another thing is that I don't really see anything important, just everyday moments from something that happens later on. Only use I've ever gotten from my visions is this sense of comfort. For me they work as this assuring that I'm still on the path I'm supposed to follow. Half a year ago I met this guy online who I was instantly drawn towards. In the beginning he felt it too. It was definitely not accident that this happened and my intuition was telling me he was going to be really important to my life. What I failed to realize, however, was that maybe he was here to teach me a lesson and make me grow as a person instead of becoming my life long partner. After talking daily for 6months and living with him in a foreign country for 1 month, he broke my heart. Even though I was devastated we decided to stay friends and I still think he has some more lessons to teach me that are necessary for my growth. How is this related to my visions you might ask? There were couple moments I had with him which I had seen beforehand, though at the time of seeing them I didn't realize I'd experience those moments with him in a totally different country. How foolish was I to let that calm my heart! I know I was supposed to be there, but what I learned was that we were also destined to break up. After I came back home, my heart in thousand pieces, something I had seen before happened. It was one of those mundane moments, which didn't seem important at the time the vision came to me. When that moment became true though I realized why it was something important for me to see: this was something inevitable and this vision confirmed the feeling I had had that none of what happened was in my hands. Why is this so important? This breakup, as much as it broke my heart, guided me back to my path. By losing him, I ended up finding myself. I'm a phoenix who time after time keeps on burning to the ashes just to be born again. Since childhood butterflies have guided me and again it's time to observe them and follow their example. It's time to create a cocoon around myself so that some day when my metamorphosis is done, I'll hatch out as a beautiful butterfly. Right now I may not have wings, but with time they will grow and one day they'll carry me again.
  9. I recently ran across a quote from an anonymous source in a old witchcraft magazine from 1914 called the word. The quote is as follows: "But divination, in whatever manner we may operate is dangerous or at least useless for it disheartens the will. Consequently, it restricts the freedom and fatigues the nervous system. A hebrew prophet once said "he that consulteth spirits will not sow" ". I've always used the tarot to guide me. I've even used it to decide how I should go about a magical operation, what I should avoid etc..But this quote got me thinking, what if divination is doing me more harm than good? I always felt like the whole point of divination is to understand whats coming so we have an opportunity to change it...I'd love to get some other perspectives on this. Was there ever a time when you felt like divination was more restrictive than freeing?
