  • How familiar are you with witchcraft?
    Not very, just baseline research
  • Have you explored other paths?
No, I am really just getting started in researching what is right for me
  • Have you ever worked with Traditional Witchcraft?
  • What does Traditional Witchcraft mean to you?
I know that it is more inclusive of dark and light and older than new age Wicca. Wicca does not really appeal to me in general, I am wanting to learn more about the traditional path
  • How long have you worked with witchcraft in general?
Just getting started seriously, but have been interested for a long time
  • What brought you to our site?
A link from reddit witchcraft subreddit
  • What do you expect to get from this site, and what do you expect to contribute to this forum?
I expect to get a broader understanding of the traditional path and hope to contribute whatever I am able as I learn and grow
  • Do you belong to any other online witchcraft sites?
No, just browsing the reddit subforums for reading list suggestions
  • What are your strongest points in witchcraft?
    I am not sure yet
  • What are your weakest points in witchcraft?
Also, not sure, so perhaps self doubt/hesitancy?

  1. It's interesting that you mentioned it being a reminder when you were having doubts. For a while when I was still figuring out what I believe I used that as an experience to remind myself that I'm not crazy and it isn't all in my head. it was exceedingly clear and was very validating when I was having doubts
  2. It's interesting to see people's different types of encounters and theories on if they are malevolent or not. I had an encounter when I was about 19 in the house we lived in right after my son was born. I did not realize it was a shadow person until years later however since I had never researched it, so I assumed it was some sort of ghost. We were staying with my boyfriends mother and her parade of druggie boyfriends and my boyfriend's younger sister. We all had weird occurrences like lights shutting on and off, footsteps on the wooden staircase, feelings of being watched. We had one stereo that would turn on at 2 am every morning for about 2 or 3 months on end even when we we unplug the thing. We didn't know what to do about it and nothing seemed dangerous so we ignored it. One night my boyfriend and I had an argument and I was sitting in the middle of the wooden stairs that led up to our room at about 3 or 4 in the morning, I had been crying and was just calmed down when a very large solid black mass went shooting up the stairs to my right and partially over my head and shoulder on that side. The light over the stairs was on, and it blocked out the light as it moved over me it was so dense. I got extremely cold and it scared the daylights out of me because I was simply not expecting it but it didn't seem threatening. It took a moment for my brain to register, ok, that just happened. and I had never really had physical spirit encounters before so I was scared but I think that was more due to my own shock and not like a feeling of being threatened or anything like that. We kept on having small activity here and there but I never saw a shadow like that again. We moved out a couple of months after that (finally saved enough to get out that toxic environment) and I had no further encounters at our new house, but the next renters there were a friend of a friend and they have had strange encounters too. I don't know if it is the same shadow person or if there is something else going on but it seems contradictory to the idea that they follow people (I am not saying they can't because I think they can, just strange that it was not the case in my experience)
  3. Necrobump ....thank you so much for this resource! I was able to find one of my male ancestors accused of witchcraft. Interesting though, they list it as him enlisting his servant to help enchant a necklace and make a potion to coerce his sister in law into sleeping with him and the family history stated that he was openly practicing ,"dark witchcraft" and a known necromancer.
  4. hmmmm guess yes and no? I had no clue I'd be into traditional witchcraft specifically. I grew up in a very Christian home and witches were considered evil devil worshippers ???? That being said, I remember a few points where I was obsessed with the idea of being a witch. when I was about 5 I was caught doing spells in our yard in a cauldron I dug into the ground with water and grass and some dandelions where I was trying to heal our neighbors cat who got hurt, I got my butt whipped over that one for sure. I left it alone til about 5th grade and again caught trying to do a candle magic spell to protect myself from my teacher who was picking on me and got into trouble again since it was "evil". Then again at age 13 when the internet was really taking off (gosh I sound old lol) and I got caught researching witchcraft and on some aol chatrooms about witchcraft and had a youth group intervention with my churches youth leader *massive eyeroll* I guess I always knew they were wrong because it never felt evil to me but I didn't have a good understanding of what witchcraft meant to me until about the last year or 2. I'd had a sense of missing something in my early 20's and was looking into some different pagan paths not witchcraft related like asatru and some Hellenic polytheism but they didn't really click for me. I looked into different occult leanings like chaos magic and did alot of broad spectrum reading into the occult which some of it resonated more with me. ThenI started reading into traditional witchcraft, herbalism, nature spirits etc. and I felt that "click" like oh, yeah, this is what I was looking for.
  5. That is a great idea :) I don't have the time per se but, I'm great at procrastinating other projects to make time for new rabbit holes to dive into ;)
  6. Been away but thank you for the replies! The boys said they feel fine around him, he's nice. They haven't seen him recently though (maybe since early February?) Not sure if that's significant, I haven't done anything but a general cleansing and blessing throughout the house ( this was in March) I'm curious to see if he will make another appearance. I wish I could get better information about the history of my neighborhood but sadly, there's not much available that I can find
  7. Thank you, at this point it has been a couple of years and nothing upsetting has happened so I do think it is probably fine. I definitely try to avoid leading questions and just leave all possibilities open when we talk rather than try to influence them one way or another. I guess I can just keep an eye on the situation and see how things develop. I will also keep the in home protection going. I appreciate the perspective!
  8. Hello, I have not posted much at this point. I am really still focusing on reading up on folklore, history etc from a few different cultures as I work on finding my way and as such have not had much to contribute as of yet. The scope of my practice thus far has really just been more getting to know myself, working on honing my skill and maintaining a meditative state, some sigil work and the like. I am not gifted in mediumship and am not aware of any one in my or my husband's family who is (not that it makes it an impossibility). My question is pertaining to my children, specifically my 2 youngest sons. I tried searching this topic and was not able to find an answer that got to the heart of my question, which is how to know if your children are showing signs of mediumship or when it is just their imagination? My boys are 3 years apart, when we moved into our new home a few years ago my older son who was 4 at the time started to tell me about his friend who lived in our house and described him to me in detail. He also stated that he had an arrow through his head and he was very sad because he was alone and missed his momma. I didn't try to tell him that it was all fake and just let him know that that was very sad, I asked at one point if we could help and he said his friend told him no. I was not practicing witchcraft at this point but I had seen a couple of spirits (or something I assumed was a spirit) at different times in my life so I was still a firm believer in ghosts and didn't want to dismiss it out of hand. As time went on he quit talking about his friend and I forgot about it, and assumed maybe it really was just an imaginary friend. A couple of years later, my younger son brought up the same friend's name when he was about 3, he described him similarly, though not exact (he was 3 to be fair) and it made me wonder if it really was something more. My husband is a firm non-believer and dismissed it as my being silly but I am not convinced. My youngest son also has the world's most sensitive nose (he has been known to start crying because of overwhelmingly bad smells that no one else can detect) and he frequently says that he can smell things like perfumy/shampoo etc. when no one else is able to. I was hoping that someone had some insight or experience with something similar? I do not want to discourage my kids from being in tune with any potential psychic gifts because they are hammered over the head with the phrase "it's not real" since I believe differently but I also don't want to start thinking zebras when they may just be playing.
  9. I work at a cemetery office too! How was your experience there? Was it located directly on the grounds? Our is in the middle of the cemetery itself, I love working here personally. I find it to be a pretty relaxing environment on the grounds especially, although the office feels a bit...suffocating?....I guess is the right word, when you are working alone in it. Hard to explain but the building has an almost "heavy" energy to it,
  10. I have 2 cats, one is a gorgeous grey tiger stripe and the other is almost all black with a touch of white around his mouth/nose and white socks. He is a fantastic hunter and huge! (like 19 lbs of kitty muscle). He is very sweet and cuddly but he is know to leave me disemboweled mice and weasels right as I step out my door, he apparently thinks I suck at hunting
