A little bit. I've found some information online and I've read a few books on the subject.
Have you explored other paths?
I never was big on religion, even as a kid. My family are Methodist, but they never have been very religious. I used to go to church with my mom when I was little, but I stopped going when I was about 8 or 9 years old. My mom stopped going shortly there after. As I got older, my views on Christianity and organized religion in general were becoming more and more negative. I had a very punk rock attitude throughout my teenage years...I was very anti-conformist/anti-establishment and I rebelled against Christianity the most...It was during these years that I became an Atheist, even though deep down I was a very spiritual person who believed in a higher power. By the time I was 18, I called myself an Agnostic just because it was the closest and easiest way to describe myself when someone asked. Nowadays, I just tell people that I'm spiritual and don't belong to any organized religion. I just am not fond of organized religion period and never have been. When I first discovered Wicca, I found a lot of stuff that I liked, but I disliked the religious and ceremonial aspects of it. That's pretty much the same reason I passed on Thelema and the Golden Dawn stuff as well. They felt too much like organized religion and I don't want any part of that. Magic doesn't have anything to do with religion as far as I'm concerned.
I will say that Thelema led me to discover Wicca, which in turn led me to Trad Witchcraft. The natural/practical aspects were what appealed to me the most. I also discovered a lot of things I've always done, liked, or were into, were things associated with the Craft. I've been feeling my way through ever since.
Have you ever worked with Traditional Witchcraft?
I've just worked with what I've found in books and online, although I know most every book on the subject has Wicca elements in them. Since I'm fairly green, I've mostly just been reading and absorbing as much as I can on the subject. I've been focusing on my inner-self lately and not rituals or spell casting.
What does Traditional Witchcraft mean to you?
To me, it's a way to connect with the universe through the use of natural and practical magic. It is a way for me to discover my true self, who I really am and what I'm here for. For me, it doesn't have anything to do with religion or ceremony like Wicca.
How long have you worked with witchcraft in general?
Magic has been a part of my life always....Witchcraft is fairly new to me (late 2008). I've always had natural abilities, but nothing disciplined. My first foray into "learned" magic was Shamanism from my best friend's mother and my ex-fiancee who was a hereditary bruja.
What brought you to our site?
I was checking out books on Witchcraft on Amazon, stumbled into a forum, and found a post with the website on it. I was weary at first because I've found other "Traditional" Witchcraft sites, and upon closer inspection, they turn out to be Wiccan.
What do you expect to get from this site, and what do you expect to contribute to this forum?
I don't have any expectations...I'm just looking for like-minded people. People who are exactly where I am now, and people who were at one time.. Everything I know about magic and Witchcraft, I've had to figure out myself. I shut out my abilities when I was younger because they scared me. Things would happen and I had no idea why or how and it terrified me. I've just recently taken the steps to face my fears and follow the path I'm suppose to. Part of that is to gain the proper knowledge and skills needed so I'll never be scared or confused again from being "in the dark" so to speak. I've been reading as much information as I can find about Witchcraft, but it's almost all Wicca. I'm not Wicca and I don't want anything to do with it. I have nothing against it, I'm just tired of looking for stuff on Witchcraft and it end up being Wicca...This is the first site I've seen online that specifically states it's non-affiliation with Wicca. A lot of sites claim this and fail miserably.
Do you belong to any other online witchcraft sites?
No. I'm familiar with Witch's Voice, but I don't belong to the site and I don't go there much anymore. I find a website, get excited, then discover it's predominately Wiccan and/or the information and people are shady at best. If there are some good ones out there, shoot em my way...
