  • Have you explored other paths?
I came from a christian background by the age of 13 started to question why i didnt feel like i belong with the rest of them. So i moved away from it but wanted to experience true study with nature as a guide. Most people these days like being book taught because they have nothing else to base their decision to change religions. What they dont understand, and most wiccans is that silver raven wolf isnt going to be there to hold your hand and by talking to someone you think your learning from they could be doing more harm then good, so instead of following, why not try leading yourself.
  • What does Traditional Witchcraft mean to you?
When i was younger i never knew the term witch itself. I just felt the need to do certian things like dancing in nature, being attracted to learning about animals, felt that being here on this land meant i needed to take care of it and there is much more to life than just going about your day not being connected to it. I think thats were many people have gone wrong, thinking its silly to be able to connect nature or be one with animals and your surrounding. Oh yeh and im getting tired of fluffy wiccans telling me that wiccan is another name for witchcraft and thats what everyone needs to be called. Sometimes it makes me wanna choke who ever is teaching people these so called things, did i mention i laugh everytime someone tells me that they are a 10th generation wiccan oye!
  • What do you expect to get from this site, and what do you expect to contribute to this forum?
People who dont hide behind labels and strict code of rules. I myself have tried to be good, only do good things but i find that supressing a dark side, not always bad, can lead you into bad feelings. I enjoy the dark aspect of witchcraft, not just always being nice and good to your fellow man. Same with some of my family, i adopt my omas (german for grandmother) bloodline, she is from just outside of transylvania romania, bred gypsies and most of my learning comes from her stories.
  1. I think hair is more relative to the witch than anyone else. I have had short hair for 16 years, sometimes so short I barely had to shampoo it to get it clean. When I was a kid, it was so long I could step on it. For me, cutting it was a liberation of my spirit. It felt extremely good to be rid of something that felt binding. I think when we put meaning to something, it becomes a personal part of ourselves. My hair has always been a statement of me therefore it was constantly wild. Multiple colors, spikey, wavy, littered with gel. Maybe some glitter in there. Now, I feel like I need it to grow. Sometime inside me told me it was time to grow myself and by extension grow my hair back. I say it much to my dismay. I used to rush to my hair dresser to get it cut off once it touched my neck, now it sweeps just above my shoulders. See I can't stand long hair but I am learning to get used to it. I can't ignore that voice telling me to grow it for some reason. My very good friend T is half blackfeet. She has very long hair, something she had to grow back after decades of abuse. To her and her family, hair is a symbol of power and wisdom. When she cut it, she felt as if he took all of her power. It was devistating to her. Now that she has grown it, she feels like herself, her power, is back. Not only did she find the strenght to leave him but, she found the strength to stand against anyone who is abusive. Albeit I think after a certian point it really isnt a matter of length equaling amount of power a person has. I think because power is a varying thing by person, hair lenght to me wouldn't be a determing factor. I can say I respect T as an elder, her friends respect her all the same. When her grandmother came to her in a dream and told her it was ok to grow her hair back, she did. And plans to never look back. I had a feeling, almost as if something inside me said to grow it back. That is why I think it is only relative to those who feel this way about hair. I see it as a sheild or tale (colors if you will) of someones personal being. Much like a tattoo or scar. If that makes sense.
  2. I am out and proud as well, but with a side of caution thrown in. My room resembles an adirondack theme with pocket closets. Open up the smaller side closet and theres an eye full of things that scream my personality. But this closet has a lock and acts as a weapons holding as well so all my witchy items and weapons have safe keeping. The cautionary part is being able to have my self completely whole without advertising. I have a small unnoticeable penticle on a necklace i wear almost everyday. Only a small few who understand it notice it, the others look at the dog tags i bought. I am a very proud person, just have motions set in place to protect me and my own if someone less understand come around. Probably what your friend had in mind, ive always loved the idea behind concealing items, kind of like james bond style. Now i have good ideas for when i build my desk of adding hiding spots!
  3. I agree Michele, finding someone who is weird matching you would be nice, hell i would love to find someone with my weirdness! I like all of the ideas listed here, problem is i am very forgetful and would have too much of a hard time remembering my formula :P. I think maybe with more research into old code would be nice, i may do that between school semesters!
  4. I feel the need to keep my workings secret. This is how things were done in my family and i keep the details within myself as well. I was thinking of using something similiar to theban but many of my wiccan friends do and i dont consider using it as they would likely read it if they caught a peek. At this point i have yet to write anything down, i am unsure if there is another language i can use as i am not very good with my german yet so thats out. Maybe if i knew shorthand or brail (without the raised dots :P) or find some kind of code like binary (yeh im reachin here) then i would feel comfortable putting it down. But also i have large art books with hard covers that i think i will get locks for and attach them. I just cant trust some people around my things so better be safe and add that too!
  5. I think it has to do with alot more than indulgence. There are people with different morals, personality, wants and needs etc. I would love to have a house in the mountians off the grid. Material things mean little to me at this point in my life, unless i make them by my own two hands. When i buy something i know theres a point where it will lose its luster or break down rendering it useless, this happens with technology. But if i make what i want, i know how to remake it if it breaks down or gets damaged. Its hard seperating yourself from things sometimes, but just know when you buy that prada purse, your paying for a label not quality (not to say some arent good quality). Same with hot topic when it was just starting, they used to sell higher quality products until they pushed for bigger trends, the suppliers wanted higher profits therefore lacked quality. I have a shirt from the first opening of hot topic back in the 90's here in prestine condition, a shit i bought last year already has holes and ripped stitching. So its about whether you can afford it, need it, want it, be comfortable with it and will use it well. I had a rude awakening so now i am striving for a simpler life knowing that things are made of labels and look for quality instead, whether it be generic goods or higher pricey luxury items.
  6. Probably a reason i am planning to move farther into the mountians, away from our modern society. I will never understand why these people are held higher above all else by so many. All i can say is, i hope he gets whats coming to him.
  7. He was arrested first for having a dog fighting ring, then they found 50 or so pitt bulls in his georgia home that many were fighting dogs. Thing is they saved about 30 that were rehabed and now live in private homes or sanctuary's. I know Cesar Milan has a few of the bad cases, were they live with him. Lets face it, the only reason he got off is he had millions of dollars. He was a US football player who allowed and even participated (by his own admission mind you) with dog fighting, murdering and torture. Whats worse is people forgive him because they like his ability to play football but dont take the time to understand the travesdy of horror he inflicted on atleast 100 dogs.
  8. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2009/11/03/petscol110309.DTL I wanted to share this article, i caught a lot of flack from a few friends for posting this. Not sure why as it is objective towards the situation surround the whole Michael vic case. I am an avid animal rights supporter (not protestor mind you) and felt the need to pass this along. Football is huge in my family, but this may change their mind about the human under the jersey. I guess its because people put on blinders when it comes to certian things, but i pass that as ignorance on something they refuse to educate themselves on, it even includes a person who rescued a few of the pits that were there, and the gruesome scene they found. (its graphic enough in story but does not contain pictures)
  9. Ewing, Jim PathFinder. Finding Sanctuary in Nature. Findhorn which is one i am not totally through, but it has great practices in it. Mainly reading ecology/ecotherapy books for college but i have recently bought a few meditations on cd. One that i cant wait to read is Richo, David Shadow Dance: Liberating the Power and Creativity of Your Dark Side, I have been really interested in finding out about my "shadow side"
  10. I liked Bartok that was suggested. Sounds "tough" and has a heavy prounciation. This may sound weird but when i name a character in any of my stories i make sure that it sounds good if its yelled as well. So i tend to take a name and yell it out to make sure it sounds alright, i did this naming my dog dante! Good luck!
