  1. Bumping for a new year. So...I've been using blood a lot more lately. Blood anointed candles and incense, blood activated sigils, offerings of blood mixed with good whiskey or wine for the spirits Also my newest grimoire's Margins have drawings that are made with blood infused ink...However drawing blood from my finger tips still pisses me off. The pains not bad at all with a decent lancet but for some reason my self preservation instincts seem to think I'm about to chop of my hand or something so it takes me forever to get even a drop. Also as a massage therapist having wounds on my hands is not good at all. So today when It came time to anoint the incense for Hecate I decided to try something different. I used the lancet to prick my elbow instead. Lo and behold barely any pain, no instincts messing things up and no mark on my hands. I don't think I shall prick my fingers again. So how do you all draw your blood (when not using menstrual blood of course) Lancet? knife? and do you draw it from your fingers or somewhere else?
  2. Just thought I'd mention that the first two books have a new 500 copy release coming up on march 7th.
  3. I rarely leave my house for long enough to need a on the go kit, but I do have a small assortment of items where ever I go (excepts when I go drinking). A spyderco harpy knife for gathering ingredients and carving runes, a pocket grimoire, pen, punch of jewelry with various uses and a mint tin with a couple of lancets, acupuncture needles, moxa(otherwise known as mugwort) and salt. Cool kit by the way.
  4. I was taught about the uses of certain herbs, traditional folklore and some spells for fishing and other misc stuff from a very young age(5-7 I think) and I expanded from there however I could. Sometimes I was rather lazy in my practice but I never completely stopped
  5. My cat Casanova, or Nova as he is now referred as is black, or rather blackish brown/red/gray that generally appears black. Surprisingly good guard with over 9 kg of pure muscle and aggression, also good at keeping negative energies at bay
  6. From what i have learned there is no need to create a fetch, it is already a part of your soul. This is the case in Nordic and Finnish traditions from which I believe the term fetch originates. It is a counterpart, usually either opposite gender version of you or a animal that resonates with you that assists you in spiritual journeys and can be sent forth for various tasks. Servitors or created servant spirits are usually associated with chaos magic though various other magical systems use similar methods. Many paths of traditional magic use more physical things to bind the created spirits to their purpose. First to come to my mind are the toad rite from Mark Smiths Hecatean path and the inugami ritual from Japanese folk magic. though one might argue that these use the soul of a deceased animal to create a arguably stable and very powerful servant spirit. Then a familiar from what I have been taught can be obtained three ways. 1. Goetic demons are known for providing summoners they like familiar spirits, or rather demons. 2. Having strong enough second sight/yin eyes/whatever you want to call seeing spirits to negotiate a mutually beneficial contract.3 Raising an animal to become useful for a witch.A traditional method I know includes feeding the animal small amounts of your blood while building a relationship with it. My grandfather had 5 adders (or finnish equivalent) roaming the land he lived in, said they intercepted ill intent coming his way. I raised my cat to serve roughly the same purpose.
  7. I've always felt really weird without long hair, granted the only time I had short hair was about a month I went to my countries army and the 2-3 months I grew it back.
  8. I think its possible for witches to recognize each other instinctively, but its also possible to either instinctively or purposefully hide that "witchy aura" especially if the witch in question has lived in a situation where it would be hazardous to be discovered as one. Of course you could say that you can sense if someone is shielding, but its probably better to assume that there are people around that are better at "hiding" than you are at sensing.
  9. Secrecy is pretty important to me, though not so much the fact that I am a witch but the specifics of my practice. I mean I wear my pentacle all the time and can be seen reading occult literature in public parks when its a nice weather. However all my "witchy" items are located in my locked bedroom upstairs and my grimoire, while visible on its stand should the door be open for some reason, has a lock of its own and protections woven on every single page on the margins. Also no one but me is allowed upstairs without me accompanying them. Not many people really know how serious I am in my practice or even what that practice actually is anymore, as I refuse to discuss these matters at all with non-witches, and even with other witches I prefer to keep the stuff I personally created or inherited as vague as possible.
  10. The 5000 spells books is pretty good for inspiration. Probably about half of the spells I made myself started by leafing through this book. Also makes for a decent halloween prop.
  11. I'm afraid I don't possess enough skulls to qualify as a witch now...On the other hand I do use blood a fair bit :P
  12. I'm an artsy and elegant lily. :atoast:
  13. Just finished Traditional witchcraft: a Cornish book of ways and the Black Toad by Gemma Gary. Pretty interesting stuff. Also I finally got started on A game of thrones and am halfway through on that
  14. About the same as with Christians: Don't try to force your beliefs on me and we don't have a problem. Though I find the personality of most new agers more than a bit grating so I don't hang out with them more than absolutely necessary (herbal and crystal stores, Also more than a few people in my acupuncture school)

    O- Blood

Fascinating topic. I am also O neg, and my eyes do change between shades of blue and grey according to my mood and also have a greenish yellow circle/star pattern around the pupil. I don't think I'm all that psychic, though I do usually sense the presence of anyone/thing watching me or being near me, but I'd chuck that up to training. My mom was also this blood type as was my grandfather who was a practicing "witch". Need to research this more.

  18. I've got a blue japanese style dragon, flying though snowstorm on my back (got that at age 22), inside that is the kanji for "honour"(I was 15 when I got that), and a tribal tattoo with the aegis hjalmur inside it on my left bicep (age 16). The next tattoo will have to wait till my business grows.
  19. Or maybe 1-2 years. Sure feels like a lot longer. Finally managed to post again. I now have my own small business, that takes hell of a lot of time and energy, my cat is bigger than my friends dog, and I think I gained like 15 pounds of weight. I seriously need to stop eating the cookies meant for customers and drinking red bull. More exercise wouldnt probably hurt either. Kettlebells are fun and all but variety is king in exercise. Ordered the black toad and the cornish book of ways last night. I hope they get to me before I go to my parents place. They sound pretty interesting and I might be able to incorporate some of it in my Craft.
  20. I like the pictures on the Vision tarot, but the Thoth tarot is just handier considering I got it at playing card size so I tend to use that more. Though tarot ain't exactly my first choice for divination so even that isnt all that much
  21. I've been reading dies the fire. Its actually pretty good but the wiccan community piss me of occasionally with their merry meets and merry parts....Though they supposedly get pretty badass later on
  22. Dear younger self, 1.Despite evidence to the contrary and popular belief you are not a vampire, please stop acting like it. 2.Start reading up on Taoist meditation, that will help a lot in the future. 3.Trust is a valuable thing, do not give it so readily. 4.Research less and do more. 5. You have a particularly strong connection to nature, use it. 6. Despite how grandpa acts sometimes, listen and learn from him, he wont be around forever.
  23. Queen of hell, The red king and The Scorpion god by Mark Alan Smith. Very good books though anything in the Scorpion God and most of the red king is a bit beyond me...I'm getting there though. They're often described as traditional witchcraft in other reviews though I dont know how the author learned his craft, and it seems more like his own personal gnosis. Good stuff though Queen of hell: Bound in green silk and embossed with what Mark calls the crown of Hecate in gold the book certainly looks impressive. The spells are beautifully written and work well in my experience. Not exactly for the faint of heart, as it does contain some relatively dark stuff like "the sacred rite of the waters of the moon" where a toad is sacrificed as part of the rite. The mythology presented in the book is interesting though does not exactly match with the greek myths of Hecate and should probably be taken with a grain of salt. And...not sure what else to say, I suck at reviewing books. I'll leave the other two for some other time
