  • What does Traditional Witchcraft mean to you?
I have always thought of Traditional Witchcraft as British Traditional Witchcraft. Traditional Witchcraft, to me, is about 'The Old Ways' or 'The Old Religion' which is very Nature oriented. It predates Gardnerian Wicca.

Traditional Witches are close to Nature, spirits and the Gods. Also, magic is an integral part of Traditional Witchcraft. Through magic a Trad. Witch enhances her/his understanding of Nature and deity.
  1. Michele's great post about the library and the compass rings very true for me. The library part reminds me of the Akashic Records. I've gained some knowledge from different Otherworld sources - guides, animal guides but need to become more adept in this area. It hasn't exactly been easy for me, I have to work at it. Raina
  2. Books on North Country folk tales, mainly. I should have been more explicit - I made it sound like I knew of some specific titles, but I don't, sorry; but I know there were books about Yorkshire and Durham counties that told of olf folk tales and local customs. Raina
  3. I'd tell myself that not everything I read is Truth and not everything I hear is gospel. I'd also tell myself to trust myself and my intuition more and to be a little more adventuresome. Oh yea, and I can think of a few books I could tell myself to buy back then, lol. Raina
  4. I started out years ago with the Rider-Waite deck but when I'm reading for others I use the Spiral deck with which I'm really familiar and it speaks to me. When I'm doing a reading for myself I really like the Llewellyn deck, I love the imagery. Raina
  5. I've read the post a number of times now and each time I read it I get something else out of it. It's great, thanks. Raina
  6. I saw the movie and enjoyed it, I thought it was done quite well. If I'm remembering correctly I think the boy in the picture looked older than 5........I think! Raina
  7. My husband isn't a witch but is quite comfortable with what I do. He is interested in my beliefs and asks questions so he can understand more.
  8. Just want to add that I use a purple candle, too, when calling on my ancestors. I like the idea of the 'Ahnentopf' which sound a little like what I do. I have some soil and sand from my birth place in England and also some old jewelry that I use. I always get a feeling of being protected when working with ancestors and it intensifies the feeling of belonging and knowing who and what I am. Raina
  9. 1. What is your favourite witchy movie. Practical Magic and does The Skeleton Key count. 2.What is your favourite place to do a spell. In my pine forest 3. Where do you normally do your spells. Upstairs in my witchy room or in the kitchen 4. What type of spells are your favourite. Healing and money spells 5. What is your favourite ingredient for a spell. My blood, energy and candles 6. What is your least favourite ingredient for a spell. Mmmm don't really have one 7. What is your favourite witchy holiday/festival . Samhain 8. Do you have an animal spirit. Yes, three 9. If Yes to #8 name it, them. Swan, dog, wolf 10. Name your favourite witchy character. Can't think of one 11. When was the last time you did a hex/curse. Haven't, yet. Haven't needed to, so far 12. When was the last time you did a blessing/healing. Couple of months ago 13. When was the last time you did a binding. About 8 years ago. 14. When was the last time you did a love spell. Oh, that was about 28 years ago. 15. Have you ever donea spell on anyone just because you were bored. No 16. What is your strength as a witch? Visualization 17. What is your weakness as a witch. Ability to control my astral travel 18. If you could go back in time to meet anybody associated with witchcraft, who would it be and why. Probably Old George Pickingill (spelling?) would like to know how powerful he really was and talk to him for hours. His picture fascinates me. 19.How much of a modern stereotyped witch applied to you as a witch. Umm, not too much. I do like to wear black though and lots of rings. 20. How long have you been a member of this forum. About a week I think.
  10. Thanks, Grymdycche, I checked out the Caitlin Matthews book, and if there's not that much Lating in the Jason Miller book I think I'll get both books next month - I've got a fairly decent paycheck coming then. It's great to have some input before putting your dollar down when buying books. Raina
  11. I have Psychic Self Defence by Dion Fortune, I got it years ago and I bring it out and re-read parts of it now and again. It's written in the vernacular of the 30's and sometimes I find it a bit trying but the info given and the knowledge imparted makes the book worth reading, in my humble opinion, that is. I've been on the lookout for another book on this topic but am not sure of the Jason Miller book after learning of the Latin involved. Just not into Latin. Has anyone here read Psychic Shield by Caitlin Matthews? Raina

Can't add anything else to what everyone has said - I agree about the stress and what Dagda said about submission. She may also be feeling stress from extra people in the house. Patience is needed as she is retrained to go outside. Raina
