How familiar are you with witchcraft?
Moderately familiar. Not a full blown pro, but I can hold my own.
-
Have you explored other paths?
My path constantly changes. I pull from various paths, using whatever calls to me. The only thing that remains constant is my patron, Ares.
-
Have you ever worked with Traditional Witchcraft?
Yes, in spell work, ie hexing, protection, etc. Hardly anything is off limits.
-
What does Traditional Witchcraft mean to you?
Traditional witchcraft to me, means using creating your own. Witches in generations past used what they had available, so I feel like a traditional witch does the same, not relying on set regulations or religion to work their craft. Basically, magic done your own way.
-
How long have you worked with witchcraft in general?
Roughly since 12.
-
What brought you to our site?
Looking for a way to network and communicate with other witches with similar interests without being judged for what I do.
-
What do you expect to get from this site, and what do you expect to contribute to this forum?
I expect to learn from other witches and share my own knowledge, all without judgement and possibly to make a few friends.
-
Do you belong to any other online witchcraft sites?
A few facebook groups.
-
What are your strongest points in witchcraft?
Creating physical charms, oils, bottles, etc.
-
What are your weakest points in witchcraft?
Piss poor at tarot and 'envisioning' as my mind tends to wander.

I've never really had an affinity for tarot specifically. I lucked out and found an oracle deck that basically screamed at me every time I went into my local shop until I finally bought it. Every single reading I have done for other people has been spot on, though per clients, almost brutally honest. That being said, I had never successfully read for myself until burning gum arabic and calling on ancestors for support. Since employing this method, I've had two accurate readings. Does anyone else have this issue? I've been told that some decks, whether oracle or tarot are just finicky. Some will only work for the reader, some will only work for the clients. I'm happy to have found a solution for my particular problem, but I'm curious as to others' thoughts on the issue. Does anyone else have a hard time reading themselves?

I find that I can't connect very well with tarot. That being said, for almost a year, going into my favorite local witchy shop, I kept seeing the Halloween Oracle deck. It called and called and called. I finally bought it and I couldn't be happier with any other deck.

Spiritual Cleansing Bath with Hyssop and Lavender
VedgeWitch replied to Solanaceae's topic in Home Made and Herbal Remedies
Absolutely. I made my own for the first time the night before Beltane and then let it charge under the full moon and then all day in the sun and it is intense stuff. Do you boil, cold steep, or distill? I use a small crock pot to distill. I make different herb waters that way and they seem to last longer. -
Freestyle Witchcraft or The Chaos Witch
VedgeWitch replied to Cristofernicholas's topic in Starting a Traditional Path
Very good and very interesting points are made here. I have never cast circle for my practice and never really felt the need to, but as I move onto bigger things, such as working with spirits who are not my ancestors or my patron, I wonder if perhaps it wouldn't be prudent. I also have a hard time truly focusing sometimes and maybe actually casting a circle would help my focus and concentration. That being said, like Phaedra said, the term chaos magic doesn't really resonate with me and it's mainly for the same reason they stated.
