  • Gender
    Feline
  • Location
    British Columbia, Canada
  • Interests
cello, violin, hiking, dogs, carpentry, witchcraft (kind of obvious), motorcycles, and photography.
  • How familiar are you with witchcraft?
My mother is Wiccan, so I grew up with a great deal of witchcraft. (Let me tell you, when kids start talking about their weekend plans, it’s best never to mention your mother’s coven is in town).
  • Have you explored other paths?
I was raised Wiccan, went atheist in college, and then found my way to traditional witchcraft instead.
  • Have you ever worked with Traditional Witchcraft?
I did many times as a child, without realizing it. And now again as an adult I have been slowly rebuilding a practice of traditional witchcraft.
  • What does Traditional Witchcraft mean to you?
I think a big part of what has drawn me to traditional witchcraft is that is a skill to be studied, practiced, and learned, like music. To me it is a way of interacting with the world where my will can play a more active role in what goes on around me.
  • How long have you worked with witchcraft in general?
    Many years.
  • What brought you to our site?
    Googling non-Wiccan witchcraft.
  • What do you expect to get from this site, and what do you expect to contribute to this forum?
I’ve done a lot of searching throughout the depths of the Internet for places that talk about witchcraft in a straightforward manner, and this is one of the few I have found. Many of the members are clearly very knowledgeable, and even as a guest I have found numerous posts full of information I have found fascinating, useful, and have acted upon. I want to learn from, and contribute to, the information on this website.
  • Do you belong to any other online witchcraft sites?
    Not really.
  • What are your strongest points in witchcraft?
    Divination and study.
  • What are your weakest points in witchcraft?
    Oof, raising energy.

  1. I just finished a course for work on ethics in big data and artificial intelligence, and some of the videos got me thinking about the nature of AI and the classic dystopian view. Following up the course with some witchcraft was dangerous, because now I’ve started wondering: if thought forms can be brought into the world, would it be possible for AI to be given consciousness? So, my question to everyone else is: do you think there are types of thought forms that do have internal consciousness, and if so, do you think AI could develop it as well? Even if their creators didn't mean to?
  2. I say it's a perfect example of "be careful what you wish for", I'd absolutely tell them what I see. But then, there's a reason I'm not a professional tarot reader, and only read for people I trust can handle negative answers. People who can only handle "positive" answers, are not people I generally want to keep around.
  3. I've used vinegar as a natural weed killer, but thinking on it, I've never actually researched the full effect of it on the environment.
  4. In defense of fiction AND romance, I know of two other serious practicing witches who are best sellers in both genres, and I would consider legit practitioners. The 30 demons in 30 days thing? That's...yeah, hard pass.
  5. Hi DandelionThorn. I’m another polyamorous witch in a long-distance relationship, and the first thing I would ask is, what mundane communication have you done with your fella to address this? I highly agree with PapaGheny, it’s important to make sure you’re not gluing an unhealthy relationship together with witchcraft; especially in poly where communication is paramount. If you think it’s a temporary block, or caused by something external, it makes sense. But if this is an intrinsic part of who he is, magic is going to be like throwing a band aid on a broken arm.
  6. I'm not much of a social/community person, but every now and then I'll read your descriptions, PapaGheny, and get a little jealous. The only celebrations happening around here are being put on by the local Wiccan priestess, so I'll be doing my own thing, probably a hike to spend some time outside of the city, and a trip to the local plant nursery.
  7. Ooh, I just listened to her interview on Rune Soup and ordered it from the library.
  8. Aww, sweetie, just no. Maybe you should do some more research. Also, "providing a host"? What kind of asshole adopts a pet just to force it to be a host for something else?
  9. A watchdog is not a familiar, that's a pet. Personally I wouldn't want my dog to be a familiar, she'd be too busy licking her own ass to be useful.
  10. All my plants are still small. :( The hardest one to leave behind was an eight foot tall bird of paradise who used to cuddle anyone sitting in the chair next to it. I named her Audrey.
  11. I had to leave all mine behind when I moved countries, and I’ve slowly been growing the collection again. I keep them around as friends, to liven up the place in the dead of winter, to act as warning signs, and to generally turn the house into a jungle. They help create the space I want to live in. I spend once a week watering, feeding, and talking to them.
  12. I’m not usually a deck collector, I’ve had my go to for over twenty years, but I did just pick up the Everyday Tarot, which I’ve had my eye on for a while. I wanted a minimalist deck, and so far I’m liking this one. Has anyone else tried it?
  13. I just saw they've settled the lawsuit, though it's not saying what the settlement is, other than acknowledgment in the credits.
  14. So you simply expressed an opinion on a subject you haven't read about at all?
  15. I haven’t watched yet either, not sure if I will, but I did see they're getting sued by the Satanic Temple for stealing their statue.
