Xaviera
There's a new series about to start on British TV called 'TWITCH' about a group of pretty teenage witches. You know the sort of thing..."Look! I can instantly change my hair colour for the prom party tonight!"I suppose it's nothing new. There's been Sabrina, the teenage witch, The Craft, Charmed, and so on. I have to admit that one or two have been quite good, entertaining for kids and maybe well written. My point is...Why do they irritate me so much? I do get a bit annoyed. I'm far too old to get ratty because a generation of fourteen year olds suddenly decide to wear dark lipstick and fishnet sleeves. Maybe the solution is for me to write a TV series about a fat old crone and see if I can influence oldies. I'll call it "HAG" and introduce a whole new fashion called "GRANNY GOTH". :witch_bounce:
Whiterose
LOL! I had forgotten about sabrina the teenage witch. I used to watch that all time as a kid. Hmmm I wonder why? :D I think "Hag" would be and awesome show.
Gramayr
Preferred Willow in Buffy, especially when she went bad :)
Evergreen47
Did you ever see the British series "Hex," Absinthe? I quite liked that one. I do miss Sabrina. It was so tongue-in-cheek and kitschy like "Bewitched." I understand your irritation, though, and I think the issue is that is glamorizes witchcraft in a way that draws ridiculous fluffy bunnies into the craft. Aloe
I'd never seen any of these till I got bored and checked out Charmed on Netflix recently. lol It didn't bother me, it's nice to have some non-serious entertainment that's not so innundated with the Big Three so I don't mind them. I'd totally watch a show called Hag written by our Absinthe though! :beerchug:
Sarafina
I have 4 different books in a series that I am writing on witches, along with vampires and werewolves. I got started when I read Breaking Dawn from the Twilight series. I did a lot of research and have a lot of truth in my books, mixed with some fantasy. I wanted the witches to be more realistic, then the Hollywood hiped up type. It's been a while since I worked on them (life kinda got in the way), I really need to get back to writing them. I enjoy watching some shows on witches, but sometimes the fakeness of it is too much for me.
Imya
Oh gosh, I keep seeing the adverts for TWITCH, and I just cringe all over. Maybe there will be a huge wave of teens wanting to be witches, in hopes to create the instant magic promoted by this new series! :lolol:

Thinking back when a society sees something as scary or dangerous it seems the typical response it to treat it as something to mock and ridicule. Then of course, as you pointed out, there is the irritating fashion sense that seems to pop out of such films too...
Athena
I love Netflix it lets me catch up with everyone else lol, I had never seen charmed untill just recently and I admit I found it funny and at least they usually dressed ok. Sabrina I miss that super fake looking cat lol what was with that! It was pretty funny too I loved the aunts they where great. I really don't like some of he new ones like circle they just irritate me not sure why either but they do probably because they are not super fake and funny bet try to be real and fail.I wish gates had caught on those were shaping up to be some pretty good witches. Not all fluffy and sweet got to love that.
