The Dictionary of Demons by Michelle Belanger

This book apparently came about after a discussion the author had with a catholic priest. The priest commented on the importance of knowing a demon’s name during exorcism and house cleansings. This inspired Michelle Belanger went through the old medieval and Renaissance grimoires and indexed the demons mentioned. About 1500 of them. That’s basically it; an A-Z of demons with lists at the end showing correspondences for the demons and another list for the Goetic demons along with their constraining angels.

I bought it on kindle which makes it easier to search specific words. I’ve been reading a few books on psychic protection which have made claims that “all” demons don’t like certain things so it’s easy to put the word in and do a search so see whether the old grimoires contradict or support the statement.

I've seen her on tv several times, she appears as a psychic on one of those popular ghost hunter type programmes.

Miss Belanger did her research. To the teeth. I recall her tweeting or blogging about having to travel to various libraries to study original manuscripts. You don't often get that with a mass-market author.

While I don't always "get" or "agree" with her stuff, she doesn't screw around, that's for sure. I use this one, generally, for on-the-fly "I heard a name in my dreams and I wonder if it's something interesting" type lookups.
