Aurelia
These are amazing just warm with some butter, or for an extra treat some cinnamon butter. Yum! But they can be eaten with jam and cream and would be just as yummy! Preparation time: 10 minutesCooking time: 15 minutesMakes: 1 dozen Ingredients:500ml flour60ml sugar2 tsp baking powder1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp soda60ml butter/margarine1 apple - peeled, cored and shredded125ml milk (plus a little to brush on dough)Sprinkling of sugarSprinkling of ground cinnamon 1) Preheat oven to 220 deg C. 2) Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and soda in a large sized bowl. Cut in the butter and mix together until crumbly. Then add the shredded apple and milk to make a soft dough. 3) Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and kneed gently around 10 times (handle the dough as little as possible). Grease a baking tray and either rip the dough into 12 pieces, or split in half and make 2 circles (roughly 6 inches) and mark each into 6 wedges. Brush the tops with milk and sprinkle on the sugar and cinnamon. 4) Bake in the oven untill they have browned and the dough has risen (about 15 minutes). 5) Enjoy! :)
