This came on TV the other night and my partner and I were riveted by it.

It's based on a true story of a woman in West Africa who is accused of witchcraft due to the number of people that are dying in her villiage and the machinations of her own husband. Her daughter has been sent to another villiage to be married, but her daughter returns to reveal the truth of the situation.

It's a senstive account of what happens when the traditional values and beliefs of the village clash with the slowly evolving sensibilities of the younger generation.

Though no actual witchcraft is involved in the story, the view of West African life that it portrays is fascinating and the theme is uplifting.

Highly recommended!

It's certainly something to look out for -- really a great movie. We caught it on SBS here in Aus (Special Broadcasting Service). That's the channel that shows a variety of foreign films and TV shows. I kow it made it to the London Film Fest, but I'm not sure if it's been released in the US (though I imagine it has).
