Family Tradition Witchcraft

This was free on Kindle today so I thought "what the hell". Second thought was "who in their right mind would publish a book about their family tradition"? Should've completely read the description before spending the 30 seconds it took to download it (much less the few hours to read it): "Today, as all the woman in my family I am a fully initiated third degree solitary practitioner."

Although she claims otherwise, if it walks like a Wiccan, quacks like a Wiccan ... you get the idea. I saw at least two "Blessed Be", several admonishments about cursing or hexing and of course, the required tools, clothing, correspondences, etc.

And I have a question: when did they change the date of Christmas to correspond with the Winter Solstice? Did I sleep through that huge announcement?

Multiple toads to this one.

Okay THAT cracked me up. Fully initiated third degree solitary????? Contradictions anyone? Or is it just me??

Huh??? I must have been asleep too!!

As a side note, the best book regarding Wicca I have read was by Thea Sabin. She mentions tools, etc, BUT always makes clear that it is up to each person, that it isn't required.

Ribbit.

"Today, as all the woman in my family I am a fully initiated third degree solitary practitioner."

This makes no sense.

Thanks for the heads up--I guess there was a reason it was free.

(On a goofier note, the title of this post inspired me to consider writing a parody to the tune of the Hank Jr. song "Family Tradition." Of course, I didn't. But it would be kind of fun...:grin_witch:)

You know, it's funny but this will probably be coming up more and more. Since Wicca came out (in the 60s I think?) there are now third generation Wiccans from families who are Wiccans, so they may well consider it their "family tradition" which is going to get really confusing, lol.

I thought about that and that may very well be what's going on, but still, a 'family tradition group' of 'solitaries' is totally contradictory lol...

She claims 6th generation (or some such), dating back to Scotland in the 1800's.

Well, maybe she's right. Maybe Gardner was a time-traveler and started Wicca before he started Wicca....jawdrop.gif Mind. Blown.

And maybe the secret to being a successful solitaire is to be solitaire....with...other...people... It all makes sense, now!

*Going* to get confusing? I'd say with that fact plus all the different kinds of Wicca, it's already confusing. Least I'm confused!!!

Of course I keep getting told I'm always that way. Or maybe not? Maybe they are always that way! Could be so. I think. Ummmm---what were we talking about again???

A friend of mine when she was a little girl knew a group of little old ladies in a small town in England who had never heard of Gardner, yet referred to themselves and their grannies as "Wicca". THAT blew my mind--interesting isn't it?

Really confusing and I thought I read wrong due to lack of sleep. Sigh, this is what happens when you live with a mother that has medical problems. Anyway, I'm totally confused by the Kindle description here. Please, where do publishing houses find these ducks at? And I thought that crescent moon publisher was bad and people actually are downloading this book onto their Kindle. Heck, save the space for important books that actually can benefit you as a human being.

Thanks for the heads up MW, I did download it from your link but after your recommendations it was immediately deleted without reading
