I am waiting delivery of the book "Traditional witchcraft for the Seashore" by Melusine Draco. Most of my craft involves the sea having been born and brought up there. I will read the book as soon as and give you my thoughts.:coffee:

Oh - please do! I have been getting more involved with the seaside of late (odd for me as mundanely I avoid it due to very pale skin, lol) and I would be very interested to hear if the book is worth looking into.

Hiya,

I’m about halfway through this book. I too consider myself a Witch with leanings towards Marine workings because I live in a Coastal town in SW England. The book is written in an accessible, warm style not unlike the way Nigel Pearson writes.

I feel though that it’s more aimed at and will be of more use to those who are new to Sea Witchery rather than the more Weather beaten and experienced Sea Hag :-)

The Seashore book is one of a series she is releasing on themed subjects on Traditional Witchcraft.

With the lake at my disposal, all of it's personalities are amazing. It's not a salty sea by no means, yet this old "Sea Hag" has an affinity to it, and all it bestows in any given day. During the winter slumber time, the Lake mumbles and grumbles and hisses, underneath her icey shield. The wind blows across her being, she is not amused, and voices her disgruntled snorts.

I may have to find this series in book form.

Regards,

Gypsy

I was only able to read up to about 4% during lunch (I had to make my Killer Sandwich From Hell) but so far for the few pages I read I like it. It isn't full of spells (yet) and that's good as I don't care for spell books. It has some very interesting information (to me) about tides and surges and how they work and the sun and moon's effects of the ocean, and the atmosphere. I'm not overly scientific and you didn't need a degree in science to understand what she was telling or to instantly grasp the importance and possibilities of these effects. I live very near the ocean but have never been drawn to it until recently so know very little about its scientific ways and workings. I have recently started getting into egrets and some of the sea and everglades birds we have around here, which is all tying into this. Hopefully the book remains in this vein and doesn't become a spell book (which so far it isn't, lol).

Thanks to this thread and my new tablet, i downloaded this book too. For reasons as Michele described, I am enjoying it. My only regret is I didnt buy a hard copy so I could scribble notes in it.

Hi M!

I know this is an old post but was wondering if you remember where you downloaded this from? I haven't been able to find any downloads for it anywhere so maybe it's not available in that format anymore, or maybe I'm just not looking in the right place....

I would love to get this book but my only problem is I live nowhere near the sea, so I feel like I might just be wasting my money. :(

That's one thing I think it covers is how to do water magic even when you are land locked. You may find some useful information in it. It's up to you but you might want to give it a try! :-)

I might just get it sometime...I do have "Traditional Witchcraft for the Woods and Forests" - which I loved, so I might as well add the rest of the series to it.  :-)

I found it. I just did some more searching and it is on kindle. I tried to paste the link for the U.S. but it won't let me....

Okay - lol, glad you found it. I got it from Amazon for Kindle.
