renascent
Hello everyone I was wondering if any members are familiar with the book "A witch alone" by Marian Green. Also would any books by Ellen Dugan be a good choice as well?. I am finding it frustrating finding good reading material that isn't new age/wicca oriented, but this seems to be the norm. Many thanks for your help
spinney
I find A witch Alone very new age solitary wicca, there is not much in it that differs from may popular books out there. There are helpful bits in it but might not be what you are looking for.I recommend Herbals, history, folklore and superstition books. Take a look at the book thread and go way back, you will find some really good Ideas. Not sure how much Substance Ellen Dugans books hold I believe you will find these to fall into the catagory you are trying to avoid.I read very few witchy Authors because they all seem to fall into the wicca style

Michele
You will probably get a different answer from everyone you ask (5 witches, 7 opinions, lol). I happen to lean towards European/British craft so I pm'ed you a few authors I personally like. You can google them or look them up on amazon and see if the books look like something you might find interesting :-) I'm sure others on here will have some interesting input as well. I never could pass up a book - my car is so well trained that it turns of it's own accord whenever I drive past a bookstore (for a while I thought it was the wheel alignment). Ancestral Celt
If you do a search of this forum, you will find plenty of threads about Marian Green's books, including one specific to the book you've mentioned here. http://www.traditionalwitch.net/forums/topic/3542-a-witch-alonemarian-green/page__p__45723__hl__%2Bmarian+%2Bgreen__fromsearch__1#entry45723
Stacey
Also would any books by Ellen Dugan be a good choice as well?. I quite like Ellen Dugan, her books are more Wiccan based, she's a Llewellyn author so it's to be expected, however I find her books practical, full of good information and she has a really easy writing style. I'm a fan of her Witchery series, if you are interested but unsure, perhaps try your local library before committing to buy, that way you will know if you prefer her style or not.
