RavenFlyer
So I have recently discovered and become addicted to maté. I know some people add other flavors (herbs) to theirs. I like mine with just honey. Whats your favorite way to do it?
ilexys_morighanan
So I have recently discovered and become addicted to maté. I know some people add other flavors (herbs) to theirs. I like mine with just honey. Whats your favorite way to do it? I like mine straight. No sugar. No honey. No milk. No added herbs or flavors. Leaves just the pure flavor of the plant it came from, and I love the unique taste of maté! You can't really mistake it for anything else.

EarthFaery
So I have recently discovered and become addicted to maté. I know some people add other flavors (herbs) to theirs. I like mine with just honey. Whats your favorite way to do it?I mix mine cold with a touch (and I mean a touch) of pomegranate or cranberry. Last week I used V8 fusion. That was really good. Hot is just straight up.I love it hot or cold. I don't have a gourd and bombilla, never did get around to buying them. The grocery store just stopped selling it loose leaf...talk about devastation! I don't care for the tea bags, sort of makes it not really yerba mate. When I'm out I'll order the pound size...it's cheaper anyway. Just not sure of a good brand. Guest MissTree
A friend introduced yerba mate to me using the gourd & spoon/straw. Just the tea & hot water is all she put in besides the straw. Love it that way! The spoon/straw rocks! (I don't have a gourd, though. I just put it in a mug.)
Meghan
Mmmm I have been wanting to try this. Where are you all getting yours from? Loose or bags?
Guest MissTree
Mmmm I have been wanting to try this. Where are you all getting yours from? Loose or bags? I get mine from a shop in the cities. Loose leaf sold by the ounce. You might want to check with any health food stores in your area. If they don't carry it, they might be willing to special order it for you. :-)
Aloe
I've bought mine from local health food stores, and also online from bulk herb suppliers.

katherined
I am the opposite, I can't drink this tea without sweetener---no way. The benefits of this tea are good enough so that I've been drinking a cup a day even though it doesn't suit my taste at all, at all! I sweeten it with stevia and even though I'd rather have a chai latte, I have learned to enjoy an afternoon cup. To me it has a smoky taste. Without sweetener it tastes like something burnt to me. Seeing everyone here like it so much makes me wonder if the brand I've been getting is no good or something. Yerba Mate is believed to be a free radical fighter, blood cleanser, appetite suppressant and a stimulant. Anti aging and toning the nervous system are other benefits attributed to it. I like to have a cup of it in the afternoon instead of a snack. Once I drink it my craving for a snack is gone.
