frekiandgeri
After thinking about this movie in another thread, I thought I'd do a search to see if it has been discussed here. I actually really liked this movie. It was it's own story, while still keeping some of the original darkness and themes of the tale. But I may very well be biased because I love all wolf and werewolf movies no matter how cheesy and I'm a sucker for Gary Oldman. The ending was very different from the original tale... but in my mind it was different in a good way (it didn't include the punishment aspect). So I'm curious to see what others thought of this film! ~ Freki:howl-moon: Edited June 24, 2011 by Freki
Oneironaut
I enjoyed the movie. I had to get past the horrid acting of the young blacksmith, but I thought it was a nice take on the Red Riding Hood story. And yes, Gary Oldman....fantastic at anything he's in. CelticGypsy
I haven't seen this one yet, but I was pleasantly surprised with the symbolism of the Black Swan movie. Not for children to view. It has adult themes, but the symbolism I found facinating. Regards,Gypsy
Guest MissTree
I haven't yet seen Red Riding Hood, but it's on my "to watch" list. :-) Oneironaut, I'm right there with you about Gary Oldman. He's a brilliant actor. Always a pleasure to watch!
Michele
Okay - I need to get to the theatre more, lol. I haven't seen either of these and wasn't aware that there were movies out on this... Black Swan wasn't by any chance an Odette/Odile thing was it? I love Swan Lake. M

I think you may resonate with the whole ballerina aspect. It's out in DVD. I saw subtle symbolism within it's story line. The lead actress, Natalie Portman (sp) I believe she took home the Oscar for her work. I can't comment if it was an Odette/Odile thing though, my apologies.
