frekiandgeri
I was curious to see if anyone else here has read this book, and what they thought from a TW point of view. Druids is a fictional novel based on the Gallic Wars from the perspective of the Gauls (specifically a young man who becomes the Chief Druid), leading up to Vercingetorix's campaign against Caesar. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Most of our knowledge of the Gauls comes, unfortunately, from the Romans... but I thought the author did a wonderful job attempting to show what it might have been like from the Gaulish point of view. Although there are a few typos scattered through the book that made me grit my teeth, I was able to get lost in the story and found it quite entertaining. I especially liked the perspective on sacrifice. The idea that all the Roman blood that was being spilled and absorbed by the earth could never be matched by the Gauls was intriguing. I'm interested to see what others here think of this book.
Michele
I got a movie called "Druids" from the 5$ bin at WalMart.... don't know if it is the same as your book or even related to it, but the acting was so bad that even after 3 or 4 tries it was still years until I watched it through to the end, and I still read a book and had some wine while it was on, lol. But I have read many books that I loved that the movie totally sucked. M
