Xaviera
Just wondering if anyone saw this film 'Goya's Ghosts' on TV. It was on Film 4 on Tuesday (UK). It's directed by Milos Forman and stars Javier Bardem and Natalie Portman. Although witchcraft isn't directly mentioned, the dreaded Spanish Inquisition is clearly explored and it shows how anyone not fully subservient to the Church at that time was vulnerable to arrest, torture, imprisonment and a death sentence.Javier Bardem played a monk who worked for the Inquisition. Evil, cowardly and self-serving (but you can still see the sexiness underneath). He has the tables turned neatly by the end. The whole thing is seen through the eyes of the artist, Francisco Goya, and is visually quite stunning. I thought it was jolly good compared to some of the drivel on the telly recently. Sounds like my kind of show. I'm in the US and didn't see it, but I'll try to look it up. Thanks! What do you know - it's on Netflix Instant Play!!! I'll be watching it tonight. :D
Aloe
Watched this the other night and really liked it. Don't want to post any spoilers, but there were some quite heartbreaking scenes. This is a movie I'll be watching again..
