An Encounter with Black Eyed Kids

There’s something wrong with these children.

They approach quietly, yet boldly. They’re young, usually teens or slightly younger. They insist on coming inside your house to use the bathroom, the telephone or just for a drink of water. But for some reason you’re afraid. Why? They’re just kids. Then you notice their eyes – black, as if the pupil had poured over its banks. You don’t let them in – or do you?

Black-eyed kids. The term has floated across cyberspace since Jan. 16, 1998 when journalist Brian Bethel first posted his chilling encounter with overly-lucid children whose eyes were coal black; not a hint of iris, nor white.

And they scared the hell out of him.

The existence of these children has since become an Internet urban legend, but is it really just that? Maybe not.

Below is a story of black-eyed kids from an anonymous reader of “From the Shadows.” I’ll call him “Bill.”

Bill was driving through Afton, Okla., a town in the northwestern part of the state on historic Route 66 just south of the Will Rogers Turnpike, when he stopped to see some old friends.

“I saw they had a new dog; a very stout dachshund,” Bill said. “I asked them about it and Michael said, ‘The weird kids left her when they left town.’”

Bill asked Michael and his wife about these “weird kids.” They told him a group of young people had knocked on their door and begged to come in and talk. The “weird kids” were driving an old van, but Michael thought it was in good shape because it didn't make noise.

“However, he and his wife felt uneasy and didn't let them in,” Bill said. A few of the kids left the van and walked the dachshund Michael and his wife ended up with. “But they didn’t seem too attached to (the dog).”

Bill asked Michael if these young people were Mormons.

“Hell, no,” Michael said. “They didn't dress right and they were junkies."

"Junkies?" Bill asked.

"Yeah,” Michael said. “Their pupils were huge."

The kids’ eyes were solid black. Looking into their eyes was like staring into a void.

Turned away at the door, the black-eyed kids eventually left, to the relief of Michael and his wife. Some time later, Michael saw the dachshund wandering around town, felt sorry for it, and brought it home. Michael and his wife are thankful the black-eyed kids never returned for it.

Michael’s story has disturbed Bill ever since.

“ (Jan. 18), a friend was talking about dark forces on the move and mentioned black-eyed kids,” Bill said. “I Googled it and a chill went up my spine.”

Bill contacted Michael about the information he’d found on these entities, but, like many who’ve encountered these black-eyed kids, Michael and his wife just want to forget meeting them. Their experience was terrifying.

“They don't want anything to do with an investigation,” Bill said, “or have their name made public, or really have anything to do with any further conversation about black-eyed kids.”

Another example of an alledged encounter:

A marine's instincts go on the alert in an encounter with black-eyed children

You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who is tougher than a U.S. Marine. These soldiers are trained in combat, survival and to face the threat of imminent bodily harm or death. But perhaps they're not quite prepared when it comes to encounters with the unknown. Consider this report from a Marine, using the name Reaper 3-1, who had an unexpected and altogether unnerving experience with the mysterious phenomenon of the black-eyed people. To make it even more harrowing, these black-eyed entities appeared to be small kids. This is the Marine's story....

I'M A MARINE stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. I live in the infantry barracks off of River Road. I recently had a rather strange encounter with a pair of black-eyed kids.

I live on the third floor of the barracks that have open walkways on the outside and the rooms on the inside. This happened on a weekend back in November, 2009. It was a weekend, so almost every Marine was out, either home, drinking or sleeping; only a handful were left in the barracks awake. I'd stayed in that weekend because I was broke and had no money to go out.

I was watching a movie when I heard a knock at my door. Figuring it was my roommate who'd lost his key again, I went and opened it. Instead of a drunken roommate, I found two little kids standing on the walkway - only these kids freaked the hell out of me. I don't know what it was about them, but as a Marine we're always told to listen to that little voice in your head, because it just might save your life from an IED (improvised explosive device). Right then that voice was screaming at me to shut the door and lock it.

THE PLEA

There was also the fact that these kids had absolutely pitch-black eyes. I mean no white or any other color to them whatsoever - just black. But I pushed those things aside and asked them what they were doing there so late. They responded by saying that it was really cold out and they wanted to come in and read. I was confused as hell, because I've never met a kid that wants to read. Also, there was no mention of any parents or anything else you'd expect a lost couple of kids to say.

I couldn't take my eyes of their pitch-black eyes; it was like they were sucking me in. I felt horrible and was suddenly frightened for my life, like I needed to immediately take cover. They just stared at me, with those goddam eyes.

I took a quick look up and down the walkway to see if any other Marines were out, but there was nobody in site. I turned back to the kids who I noticed had taken a step forward toward me. I got the feeling like I was being hunted, like these kids where predators and out for their next meal or something. Instinct gave way to reason and I decided to listen to that voice and shut the door and locked it.

I heard soft constant knocking for the next five minutes before I heard my window rattle and then nothing. I went down to the officer on duty the next morning and asked him about it and he said he hadn't heard of or seen any kids in the area at all, and dismissed it saying that I'd probably had too much to drink last night. Only I hadn't been drinking at all or anything like that that night. I don't know what or who those kids were, but I doubt any of the families here would let their kids wander around at night on a military base.

As we have heard in many other stories of black-eyed people, they often ask to be invited in. They don't try to barge in... they don't threaten... they only seem to need their targets to voluntarily allow them into their homes. For what purpose? What would happen if they were allowed in? Who are these black-eyed beings?

Ive never heard of these children before. It was a very interesting read. And I will for sure be doing some reading up on these kids. I wonder if anyone has theorized their origins. Or if they are sort of like a mothman type creature.

Of course the first story reminded me of a book I read when I was about 11. It's was called Jackals by Charles Grant. And it was about this "breed" of people that pretended to have car trouble, and whoever stopped to help them paid for it. The jackals would follow the person to their house and wait till night and then knock on the door, and ask for help. Eventually the family surrounded the house, and made sounds like wild dogs before attacking and killing the person.

Needless to say this has terrified me since I was 11. So for 16 years I have refused to stop and help people on the side of the road. Plus I am insanely scared of home invasions. I think my heart would stop if that happened. The intruders wouldn't have to kill me lol.

Hi RavenFlyer,

You and me both...(never heard of these kids..until just recently) From what I can see, many feel they are either here as demons, vampires or other non-human enities...has anyone let them in?? Doesnt look like anyone has lived to tell about it?? I dunno....very creepy indeed. I fear the same things actually...home invasion...not trusting strangers for any reason who come to my door....or "need" assistance....too bad, but it's just the way it is....one has to protect themselves from any and all outside forces....u never know right? The Jackals...hmmmmm...do u know if this was a book of fiction? Has there ever been anyone to come forward to tell a similiar story? ( I love paranormal stuff....can u tell?!)

I have read on the Mothman...another creepy dude.....yikes..no thank u. I believe he's been spotted...I dunno, I want to say around Ohio? In an abandoned warehouse? Larger than a man..furry, with huge wings?

Where's my blankey?!!!! :0

I've never heard of Black Eyed Children, I grew up on the border between Texas and Mexico, so my experiance when looking at a Mexican child with their eyes so dark dark brown, is about the extent of it.

However........... Mothman... yep .. heard of that creature. B4 the movie was created.

Yep, heard of them and the Black Eyed adults. Yes people there are adults to. I have to admit that these are way creepy stories whichever ones you come across. I heard about them about two years ago in my other vocation and started to investigate them. There are so many claims out there about these beings, from them being vampires to extraterrestrial beings or beings from an alternate reality or that they are old fashioned ghosts. A lot of theories and not one solid lead as to their identities or what they are. They've been thought to be the Men In Black as adults.

The adult versions are not as creepy as the children, but they still send up red flags to everyone around them. This is a link to a really good site about this and a few good encounters documented there to. http://www.metatech.org/2008/black_eyed_beings_people_kids.html.

What do I think they are after my investigation, no real clue, but they could be the origin of the Vampire myth. I would love to have an encounter with one of these beings. I love things that are unusual and creepy.
