Bell, Book and Candle

Now I know it is full of claptrap that is untrue about witches but it really is a fun movie. I love the clothing that Kim Novak wears (I think it is a great witch's wardrobe). I thought Jack Lemmon's line when the Aunt says - "You don't understand Nicky, she's in love." He shudders and replies "Wouldn't she rather be dead?"

It was fun and full of giggles and Pyewacket was a great familiar. It is a bombshell kind of movie.

So did you see this one?

I saw this on the big screen at an old movie revival filmhouse when I lived in Missouri. I loved it. I remember laughing like I got some inside joke.

Never heard of it... *runs and ducks for cover...*

See I was banned from watching Hocus Pocus during one of my mom's raves about Christianity and "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" *rolls eyes* but hey, she was the one that bought me that movie! LOL!

I bought this movie last night and absolutely loved it! :) LOL and movies like this always crack me up...

anyone else notice the way Mrs. de Passe says "Drink while it has it's strength!" Mario about kicked me after I rewinded and watched that part 5 times. :)

And it looks like they're re-doing it in 2010.

Oh, I think this movie is grand. I love the story, the set design, Kim Novak's wardrobe. All the great actors too - Elsa Lancaster, James Stewart, Jack Lemmon and Novak is great in the lead role. I can't forget Pyewacket either. Just love this movie! Big thumbs up!

A great Witchy film! have it on dvd and dig it out every yule! Got the name for my cat Pyewacket from this film many years ago, who sadly journeyed on last year.

A real must ! Kim Novac is stunning! Hermonine Gingold is fun as her eccentric aunt, a young Jack Lemmon is bewitching on the bongo drums to 'stormy weather', not really a fan of Jimmy Stewart though in this film, some one younger and better looking would have been better suited!

Aww... I love this movie. I nicknamed my cat, Lorelei, a few years ago. I call her Pye (she is a long-haired siamese).

I love that movie too Tabby, do you recall the scene when she puts " the spell " on the lead male character I think his name was Jim, I'm not sure though, ( played by Stewart ) and she puts Pye infront of her and hums that soft melody behind Pye's head, as she is casting ? Could that of been a " Soul Song " that I believe all Witches have within them, perhaps that was her personal Soul Song?

Gypsy

I have always been fascinated by the way she cast, and how the writer(s) came up with this method. I have never heard of a "Soul Song" before; could you tell me a little about it?

Thanks in advance, Gypsy!

Just finished watching this movie again last night ... been humming that song all morning. I've no clue from where that melody stems.

Has anyone watched this lately? Do current members enjoy this movie? I really really want to watch this, it looks really fun. I'm going to stream it with a bottle of wine on Friday night if I can.
