I loved this, toad being my otherworld familiar. Thank you :)

Thanks for sharing the video! I really like toads. It's been fascinating all the bad reputations that Christians during the medieval times gave animals. Due to this lots of innocent creatures were killed or tortured and then killed. Hail the awesomeness of the toad familiar! :frogspells: (...or toad spells)

I have several toads that live under my porch, they come out and sit under the sidewalk lights at night. One in particular does not seem to have any fear of me and even lets me pet him. I do have to be careful when I let the dog out - she doesn't appreciate them and tries to eat them.

Thought I'd post this story of what happened to me as a kid relating to toads. It was the day after my birthday, I think I was something like 7 or eight, I had gotten a fairly nice pocket knife as a gift from my grandfather, my first knife as a matter of fact, and I was trying to whittle myself a wooden sword in a nearby forest, suddenly I saw huge toad right next to me on a rock watching me. I got frightened and cut my hand ,a fair amount of blood spilling on the ground. Angry as just a child can be I threw the knife as far as i could. The toad had disappeared. I bound the wound with some plants and went back to my grandpa's house and got yelled at for losing the knife. My grandpa and I went looking for the knife but couldnt find it anywhere. Next night I had a dream of a huge toad talking to me, now i dont remember the exact words he (it?) said but he thanked me for the gift of blood and told me to be more careful with my things in the future, next morning when I woke up the lost knife was under my pillow.

This reminds me of my childhood home. My front yard was toad central every night you'd hear them come out of their holes and crunching the leaves as they went out on there nocturnal hunts there must have been at least twenty of them and they always left a "memento" here and there that was full of insect shells. when it was time for them to lay eggs you could always find toad eggs and tadpoles in the moist mud where our water manifold was leaking......there was this one toad who was so huge it would leave trails in the brush wherever it walked. even trampled a small elm. I somtimes wonder about my toads I was quite fond of them. I remember when I chased away the other kids because they were taking them from my yard.

I love toads. When I was 13 I had this huge toad that used to follow me around my backyard. Everytime I was outside and called out, my friend would turn up. I used to talk endlessly to it and my mom used to think i was meeting with some boy but would find me sitting alone when she came out to check. Lol I missed my secret friend when my parents split up.

I recently moved and one of the coolest things that I love about my new house is all the toads that sing to me at night, right in my backyard...and I have new friend. He splits his time between my hanging tomato plant and my hanging strawberries (that actually sit on a table). My new toad friend watches me while I care for my plants and looks right at me when I talk to him/her as though he/she understands me. It cracks my kids up. I drink my tea or coffee with him/her most mornings. I feel a little bummed when he/she isn't around but he brightens my day when she/he comes back a day or two later.

I find toads(and frogs) very magical creatures. They are born in one world, and then cross the threshold into another, always having the ability to exist in both. True creatures of the shore/threshold, of the between where land meets water. I have collected dried-out frog bones I find; they're great to work with as guides for certain areas or for carrying things back and forth.

Oh man, this reminds me of all the toads we used to spot/chase/scream over (lol) at my mothers house. They've just disappeared now, both them and the turtles, but there was a time where you simply could not walk through the grass without spotting 2 or 3. The turtles stay closer to the lake behind the houses now, I suppose. Spotted a few in there poking their heads up.

You're lucky Apryl :)
