Thank-you Brownies

Recommended Posts

So, I promised myself that if I was promoted to a full member of the forum, I'd share my brownie recipe with everyone as a thank-you. These brownies were fed to me on a regular basis by my friend while I wrote my M.A. thesis, and I would never have been able to finish without them. So not only are they incredibly yum, but they make you type like a fiend to boot.

Lauren Brownies

4 squares unsweetened chocolate

1 cup butter

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla

1 cup flour

pinch of salt

1 12-oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 cups mini marshmallows - definitely NOT optional

powdered sugar (optional)

Melt unsweetened chocolate and butter together. Add sugar. Cool mixture completely. Add eggs, beating in one at a time. Add vanilla, flour and salt; mix until well blended. Fold in chocolate chips and marshmallows.

Pour into a greased 9x13 inch pan.

Bake at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes. Do NOT test for doneness, it won't help you because these are so sticky. The top may look bubbly. Dust with powdered sugar, if you like.

If you use a big enough pot to melt the butter/choc squares, you can make this into a one pot recipe to conserve clean-up later.

Thank-you to everyone, I am very thankful to have found this forum of like minds. Enjoy in good health (I swear these are really very good for you!)

What a great recipe.. gotta give this a go. And Patrima... Why couldn't you have posted this about a week ago????????

You quoted: "So not only are they incredibly yum, but they make you type like a fiend to boot."... I finished my dissertation yesterday (apart from tweaking and references) and I soooo could've done with typing like a fiend :D

Hi Amber- Congratulations on finishing your dissertation! You deserve to make yourself these brownies to make up for lost. You must tell me what you are studying. I love school, and am making vague plans to start my doctorate in the next few years...so much work....

I'm studying Fine Art, my dissertation subject question is " can contemporary artistic representations of death help us come to terms with dying and death".. along those lines!

I'm not completely done.. still got to reference, spell check, do a bit of culling (I'm a great waffler) and add a final chapter about its relevance to my artistic work.. but, I've actually enjoyed doing it.. I love a bit of writing, I do!

PS: Am going to bake those brownies.. for sure! :D

O man, where was this a week ago?? I made about 5 dozen brownies and sent them out to my guys out forward...I'll definitely use this recipe for the next round of care packs to them. They'll love the marshmallow addition. *Happy dance!

And yes, welcome by the way! :D

  • 3 weeks later...

I made two batches and took them to the nurses at the hospital where my partner is. She is leaving to go to physical rehab today. I cut them to half the size and put a *very rich* warning on them. Still, they were gone before I left for home.
