Marked my blackberry. I loved the first one but I didn't get a chance to see the whole thing. Maybe they'll show that 1 first and then the new one! :laugh1:

Well, I just finished watching this latest offering from Hallmark. I had recorded it on the DVR and was able to watch it at my leisure.

I enjoyed it quite a lot. It has pretty much the same feel as the first one. The characters are basically the same. While many would think it a bit too chick-flick, I don't mind a little light hearted romance mixed in. I thought they portrayed Cassie much the same as before, perhaps just a touch more blatant about her witchiness without beating anyone over the head with it. I like that they don't portray her as being way different from everyone else in the community, if you know what I mean. Too many times in movies the witch characterization is rather stereotyped as WAY out there and anti-social.

I will watch it again.:vhappywitch:

I would definitely classify both movies as "chick-flicks" (hubby agrees) but loved 'em anyways. Hadn't seen the first so was glad they showed them back-to-back.

What I liked more than anything is that most of the time, she used mundane methods rather than magic. Take the little girl's nightmares - the power of auto-suggestion worked very well, hmm? And there was nothing "magical" about the mirror she gave the boy. Simply asking him to do a little introspection about who he really wanted to be.

And I, too, liked the fact that Cassie was portrayed as a more or less "normal" person. Perhaps they'll do more in the "series" and help the rest of the witchy world by showing we're not all green-faced with warts on our noses.

I agree! The thing I like most about this "series" is that there is no nonsense special effects, it's very down to earth and portrayed positively.

I have a gut feeling there will be another Good Witch in the future with the way this one ended.

Aw hell!!! I forgot!!!!!!!

I'd bought some DVDs and got wrapped up in those instead!

I had bought and watched "The Worst Witch", because it's a light hearted kids' story that predates Harry Potter by at least 10 years, and it's interesting (though the movie was awful) to see where JK Rowling most likely got at least half her ideas from. Amazing similarities.

Interestingly as well, Faruza Balk played the lead part in it, 10 years before doing "The Craft".

And talk about weird - for a "special features" section, they have info on herbs, planets, spellwork - like a little "101" on wicca or something. That's kinda out of place on what's clearly a fictional fantasy kid's story.

Anyway..

Oh well.. I'm sure they're rerun the GWK. Glad to hear they didn't ruin anything.

I loved this movie. I just love the no special effects, etc. She says it, it happens. I loved when she was talking to her boyfriend and the bad guy was on the stairs and she good nite to both and he (the bad guy) kinda freaked!! HEHEHE...gotchya! Oh, and her garden was beautiful and I want it!!!!

I again missed the first one the nite before but I'm watching my TV guide and can check the website for dates.

Hey Grym, you mentioned in another thread you're on Comcast and sounds like you have a DVR. So why not record them? Hallmark Channel has re-shown both movies twice in the last week or so. I suspect they'll do it again - but not in February according to their website.

I got to watch this one too! Loved them both, my daughter even sat down with me and watched the whole thing, yep it was chick-flick night! LOL I really like the way she is portrayed in these movies, down to earth every day type of person. No big hocus-pocus special effects stuff. I hope to see more in this series.

For all those in the UK 'The Good Witch' first installment of the story is being shown on Hallmark Channel on Saturday at 1pm, both installments are not available on DVD unfortunately the original distributor of 'The Good Witch' withdrew it! Can't wait to see it.

I really enjoyed 'The Good Witch' on Saturday so I contacted Hallmark in the UK to ask when they will be showing 'The Good Witch's Garden', I had a reply today saying that they have no current plans to screen it  but... my comments have been passed onto the relevant departments for discussion in their next schedule meeting, so if you are in the UK and want to see it just e-mail Hallmark via their website to show interest. Kinda strange really as this is a very successful Hallmark movie.

Comcast, yes, but DVR, nope. I'd like to though.

But I get to try seeing it again this coming week, so, like, coolness!

If you find yourself away from the TV that weekend, let me know. I'm on satellite and the only place I have a DVD recorder will be busy watching baseball but I can put 'em on a VCR tape for you from a different receiver.

Well, yay, I finally got around to watching it. (I taped it last week but never had a chance to play it back).

That said.. it was okay, not as good as the first one by a long shot.

And waaaay too sappy. Holy crap, there was so much "feel good" imagery and dialog I felt like I'd eaten way too much candy and was starting to feel ill, lol.

Ah well, that's Hallmark for you.

If I'm not mistaken, Catherine Bell is half Iranian. I'm just curious as to how they'd treat her there if she ever visited, seeing as how she not only acted the role as a good witch but was an executive producer of the show as well - in a show that essentially glorifies witchcraft and magic, etc.. I imagine the Iranian culture would take as kindly to that are our own christian fundies and Harry Potter book burners, lol. She probably has no interest of checking out her heritage though.

I just learned she's into Scientology. That's depressing.
