Ani DiFranco, If It Isn't Her

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJk-OqSYgbQ

ah, I see some Ani Difranco!

First time I ever heard of her, believe it or not, was when I saw her in concert. LOL! A small concert with not so many people, she was opening for Bob Dylan (who I was there to see) and I believe it was earlier on in her career, I think.

:)

A fav.

Honestly, I wasn't paying much attention to her as she was performing, until she played this...I thought the lyrics were very interesting and a bit inspiring to boot. Very timely at the time.

Anara: I LOVE that you've posted some Gogol Bordello. Awesome band! There's another band like them called The Destroyers (English group) that I've been to see live in England several times - love, love, love. :biggrin2:

My laptop recently crashed and I lost -all- of my music :cry_witch:

So I'm currently listening to the few CDs I own, and a few cassettes...most of which I had to dig up out of my cellar. Right now it's Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction on cassette.

Chorus:

In darkness we do what we can

In daylight we're oblivion

Our hearts so raw and clear

Are turning away, turning away from here

In darkness we do what we can

In daylight we're oblivion

Our hearts so raw and clear

Are turning away, turning away from here

On the water we have walked

Like the fearless child

What was fastened we've unlocked

Revealing wondrous wild

And in search of confirmation

We have jumped into the fire

And scrambled with our burning feet

Through uncontrolled desire

Chorus

There's a well upon the hill

> From our ancient past

Where an age is standing

Still holding strong and fast

And there's those that try to tame it

And to carve it into stone

Ah but words cannot extinguish it

However hard they're thrown

Chorus

On Loch Etive they have worked

With their highland dreams

By Kilcrennan they have nourished

In the mountain streams

And in searching for acceptance

They had given it away

Only the children of their children know

The price they had to pay

In darkness we do what we can

In daylight we're oblivion

Our hearts so raw and clear

Are turning away, turning away from here

Regards,

Gypsy

Believe it or not, Cat Stevens, "Morning has Broken"... and it was such a beautiful, magical morning of spiderwebs and dew drops and the sunrise, and a cup of coffee on my back steps watching it all with the egrets flying overhead, the herbs sprouting and the ancestor's voices in a soft northern breeze...

I LOVE Morning has Broken! It's such a great song. A dear friend of mine ended his memorial service with that song. Well it was the second to the last song. The last song was the safety dance.

These guys always motivate me to get off my ass! Plus, bonus points for being IMO the best musical group to ever come out of Las Vegas....
