I have felt very vulnerable this weekend just gone. I have been suffering from anxieties that I have absolutely no control over - and it doesn't seem to matter how much path-working I do or how many meditative states I'm in where I try to achieve stillness, my mind is spinning and will not let me relax.

I am considering 5-htp. Any thoughts?

Seratonin/melatonin balances are delicate and adjusting them always causes a rebound effect.  You may wish to try something like Valerian first.  I am just always leery of swallowing a pill.

I second Valerian. I love that stuff when I need to relax or sleep. Also if you have access to it you could try a full spectrum extract. That may also help.

Remember that Valerian works best when in an alcohol solution.  While a tea is excellent, a tincture of brandy and powdered root is best.  Add the root to the brandy and seal it for about a week.
