Especially in the north where I live people still believe and fear cunning folk of all sorts. sugarskull Posted March 5, 2022 Share Posted March 5, 2022 Interesting to know, thanks. Calls my attention one of the articles that defines ganning as "to cast spells on someone or something". Reminds me of pellar in British Cornish witchcraft coming from repell. So while in one culture there is the one ho cast spells as attacking (maybe) in the other there is the one who protects (no much difference regarding "to cast"). At the same time, it says, "traditionally, ganning has also been used to heal or resolve conflicts", that's beautiful. Here in Mexico consluting a brujo in cases of sport teams and championships is very common (there is a lot of money involved in gambling). I guess in all Latin America it is the same (and the world, to say it all). People here fear brujeria as a negative term but prefers curanderia as means of healing.
