I think this is something interesting to read through: A Brief History of Magic Wands from History Daily. Enjoy and inform yourself. Not everything is history, but it says something about our collective imagination too. Maybe other folks here have other things about the history of the wand to add.

I noticed that many of these wands are more of a rod than todays conventional wands that are from crook of elbow to middle finger length. Circe in particular is always depicted with a rod.
Personally I like a rod length, seems to me more of a power tool than the shorter wand.
Most of the list is sheer fantasy rather than fact. Not history.
