So, my 13 year old son is walking around speaking Latin ( sort of ). I ask him what it is. He is so proud of himself. " It's a prayer to Satan." he says.
He found it on the internet and uses it to freak out his friends he says.
I ask to hear it. This is what he says; ( stop me if you know this one )
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua,
sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo.
( Not unless you say it backwards )
Now, I am not a Latin expert or anything, but I knew this one.
I start laughing. He looks at me.
I tell him.
He's like 'No way!'
I told him to look it up. He does.
"Well that's humiliating" he says.
I of course made it a lesson in why you don't go around saying things out loud if you don't know what they mean, lol.
