This year's tree feels OMINOUS for some reason...

Looks fine to me IB!! It will look great with the lights on.

We usually have long strings of gold beads wrapping around our tree. A lot of work still being done downstairs in our house so not sure if we will have the room for our usual tree this year.

I saw how many views this thread had before anyone even posted and was thinking "c'mon guys - I *know* you're more observant!" :grin_witch:

Yes, O, it's my (aptly named) black cat, Monkey in there at eye level  ...Who thankfully has the skills to climb the tree and play in it without tipping it over - this is her first year experiencing a Christmas tree (and funnily enough, she decided to climb the tree again as I'm typing this even though she hasn't climbed it since I took those pics last week!).

Here's another one of her you can see a bit more clearly, and one of my tree actually lit up from last year with the lights on - when we had the full moon on Christmas Eve (that's the moon rising in the window, not the reflection of the star on top of the tree even though it appears that way):

Haha your cat has a classic spook face. It's so cute.  :spook:

I'm some glad neither of my cats show any inclination towards climbing trees, bookshelves, etc.

I'm not sure what you mean by "spook face"... You mean like this? :grin_witch:

(I'm not a dress up your pets person, but my bf brought this home as a joke )

lol exactly!

A spook, like a ghost I guess, but not exactly. It doesn't have to be a deceased person like a ghost, a ghost-like entity that can be whatever form (cats and owls are common, or just disembodied faces), that has wide eyes, that stare and startle you but are generally harmless.

Hahahahaha! I used to have to tie my tree to the walls and ceiling because my giant orange lion-cat would do that. :D

I see it as a minor miracle that the tree hasn't even wobbled during these "events"

(and I feel especially bad for Oroboros who spent so much time and energy on her tree only to have it come crashing down for apparently no reason :( (actually now that I think about it, maybe your sullen teen presence had something to do with it? )

Bought a big ass steel tree stand from Home Depot. It is vertical again:).

It was really weird because it had been REALLY sturdy the first night(I had jostled the hell out of it putting the lights on and it never budged.) But when we tried to right it AFTER it fell it was completely unstable no matter what we did. So all I can figure is that the boughs relaxing and lowering exaggerated the previously minor imbalance of the tree being fuller on one side and because it was a like 9.5' tree in a stand designed for trees up to 10ft- it just couldn't handle the imbalance.

Now if it goes over again, some spirits are getting a firm talking to. AND I will definitely cry :)!
