We lost our special needs budgie a couple weeks ago.  She had a heart attack.  Every other pet I was close to has always warned me of their passing in dreams or intuition.  Stella did not.  She just passed on.  She was only with us for three years.  She was partially blind and a bit slow.

It really hit me hard.  She died so suddenly, I wonder if that is why I never got the message.  I made this painting in her honor this past weekend.  I really loved her, and hope in the next realm she is flying free and healthy.

That is a beautiful painting...I am sorry for your loss.

I always loved parakeets...not sure if budgies are the same thing, but close.

I am sorry for your loss. This painting is very pretty. I can feel how much you loved her just by looking at the painting. You are so talented.

Yet such are they that seem by day,

who walk abroad by night."

This is perfect...gorgeous bird.
I have often done pieces of jewelry to remember my pets by, instead of drawing or painting. Of course you don't get the exact likeness and image of the animal unless you use a picture somehow of them, but something symbolic and dedicated to their memory. I think it's nice to do something beautiful for them, whatever it might be.

Quick, said the bird, find them, find them,

...you need a lot of courage in this life, to make some of the choices you have to make. That's natural. I mean, you can't sit back like an amoeba and just regenerate yourself. You've got to be an exciting, dynamic human being, and there are choices you're going to make that's going to cause you some difficulty, and if it requires some courage on your part, then do it. - Charles Perkins, Arunta Elder, 1998

Thanks everyone.  I loved her so much.  Like losing family, they are family to me.  We communicate, as equals, so when one of natures creatures leaves this plane of existence to the next it hurts.  Though I know in spirit she is happy and free.
