The following thread will be art with Russian, Ancient Slav, and Witchy themes from Orthodox lands. I will post pieces as they are finished, enjoy!

Stunning!

Thank you everyone for the compliments! This piece was a labor of love. So this thread is taking a pleasant unexpected turn. The first image will be mirrored and made to be the back of a custom tarot deck I will be making! This has been a goal of mine for a while, but it just came to me in the last few days in the form I am now following. The face of the cards will be painted in color. Here is the first card, "XX-Judgement

Why are you not designing tapestries and tarot cards as a job?

I saw one of your updates about that RG! I wanted to comment, but I have been moving and haven't had a moment's rest. I look forward to seeing your deck if it is one that you don't mind sharing upon completion.

Thanks L! I will be happy to post more here as I get pieces finished.

nice tarot card.

Thanks Anara! Went with the Slavic Lunula and Kolovrat, for the old ways. It was tricky at first, I have never painted the Russian folk style with the black background. Adding just a touch of sky stumped me at first, but I am glad with the way it turned out :)

Haha that is a good question RS! I am getting an etsy store up and running by the Summer Solstice if I keep working at the pace I have set. I will eventually sell my tarot deck, T-shirts with Eastern European witchy themes, my album when complete, scrying mirrors, wands, etc. One item I will be making to order is pretty cool. I have four tarot decks that I rotate and use depending on the reading. I busted out the sewing machine and made a "kit" for the decks. It looks like a nice neat cube, but it unfolds into a pouch system sewed for easy access to the decks. So stay tuned, I will announce my store opening when I have it ready!

Hi witchpriest, I am late to this string but I love it and your art.  I too am (very slowly) working on my own tarot deck, also imbued with slavic witchiness.   Would love to hear where you are at with this.  One thing that I am perpetually confused by is how I actually make it happen - what is the best way to take a sketch and make it into a card, do I scan and use my local print shop? do I take a photo of my art? which card stock do I choose? do I get it laminated... sigh.  I know this ends up being one of the blocks for me.  Because they need to be durable and I need to be able to shuffle them....  :)
