I'm just curious about the thoughts and comments of other witches regarding Katy Perry's performance at the 2014 Grammy awards. Anyone care to weigh in on this?

I have a personal friend who helped create the performance. So I can say that there were definite occult and witchcraft elements to the show. I thought it was great.

I live under a rock without television, so I had to find the performance on Youtube.  From an aesthetic standpoint, I felt it was very well done.  I caught a few elements that personally struck me as being genuinely witchy, which was a surprise- but I also recognize that witchcraft themes have been making a comeback in the entertainment industry recently, so I'm not willing to conjecture over how "real" a witchy performance may be.

The thing to remember is that it was a performance made to entertain. It wasn't an "official" sort of ritual taking place on stage. It was an entertainer putting on a show. There were some obvious real witchcraft elements included. The "demons" rising at the beginning  being one. and specifically near the end after the broom stripper pole dancing, LOL when the other dancers pour a substance out in a circle around Katy Perry (it looked like red brick dust, but I am thinking it was something else) as a form of "protection" for her resurrection when she is burned at the stake which occurs right after the substance is poured around her.

Well said, and your point brings me to a curiosity of my own.  I can't help but wonder if the younger generation has become so conditioned to magic in pop culture (Harry Potter, Disney) that the perception between truth and fiction can get a bit fuzzy when viewing adult-oriented entertainment (Katy Perry's performance, 'American Horror Story: Coven').

Yeah, liked the broom pole dancing lol.

I brought this up today with my witchy social media acquaintances  As much as we'd enjoy having a dancing pole in our respective bedrooms, we're in agreement that a "real" broom stripper pole would be unwise, else we end up with, quote, "splinters in places where splinters should not be".   :woot:

Obviously, you and your friends are missing out on one of the traditional methods of "riding the broom".  Never under-estimate the power of strategically-placed, round, knobby, wooden objects.

I think traditionally it was greased....wise women of old have found a way around the splinters.

Occult themes in a performance at a major awards show, shocker. That only occurs in pretty much every show and the majority of music videos made by most musical artist now a days (according to NWO conspiracy theorist, I swear they make the most amusing things to read) lol.

Just watched it on YouTube since I missed the Grammys this year. Katy needs to work on her pole dancing a little bit, too stiff... Her leg lift was awkward looking. Honestly, her dancing wasn't all that impressive either. Liked pretty much everything else though.

That comment about the broom though, just reminded me of one of my favorite books The Unlikely Ones. Haven't read it in a while... need to go search for it.

The stage design looks really incredible and detailed. The horse was really cool.

Katy looks so stiff. I think she's uncomfortable with her performance. Guess I won't be calling her a celebrity witch anytime soon.  :vhappywitch:

Haven't seen it before but thought it was good visually.

First thing that grabbed my attention was her being encased in an orb of white light.

Yeah, liked the broom pole dancing lol.

Thank you for adding this link, I never thought of that, new to forums lol.

Yes, I liked the horse, both the one on the stage, and the one on the screen in the back ground.

Thanks you guys, I just wanted to hear the some of the thoughts of people on this forum, as there was alot of stuff out there on the web posted by fanatical Christians who thought it was evil, and other such crazy nonsense.

I hear this song a lot on the radio now. As far as pop songs go, it's not bad. I think the occult elements are just playing off of what is popular these days, it seems as if the witchy/pagan fad is coming back in full force (but I think it seems more horror/gothic oriented than it was in the 90s).
