Witches Of East End

Is anyone else watching this new TV show? I have to admit, I'm really enjoying it so far :) it definitely has Hollywood witchcraft in there, but I'm not always on the lookout for realism in everything I watch. They aren't as "light vs dark magic" as other shows have been - they mention it which made me cringe, but the "good" guys also talk about using dark magic so it isn't a case of " this person is evil because they use dark magic". Which was refreshing.

I love the main characters! They are strong, sassy ladies who take care of themselves and aren't afraid of a bit of vengeance! In fact, I'm only on episode 3 so far and they're definitely proving that they aren't the love and light kinds of witch characters lol!

It's based on a series of books by Melissa de la Cruz. I haven't read them but I'm tempted to now.

So, anyone else watched it yet? What do you think? :) It's been likened to Charmed, but I felt like it had more of a Practical Magic feel - though also different.

I was surprised about it and really enjoying it. Yeah, it has that Charmed vibe and the Practical Magic vibe to it. But the house they use for exterior shots, could have picked something different. So similar to the Charmed house, the color and the basic style where the doors are. Though it is way cooler and bigger. I started reading the books the following day after it premiered. Loving the books too.

Like it too, but I think I like "American Horror- The Coven" w/ Jessica Lang just a little bit better

I haven't watched that yet. I really should!

I had to make a choice between Once Upon A Time in Wonderland and Witches of East End, and OUAT won. I hope to watch this once I finish American Horror and OUAT. Does anyone know if Netflix will get the series?

Aurelia- Coven is awesome! It's definitely Hollywood magic but the imagery is great. The show is even better if you BYOB. :vhappywitch:

Rustic, I'm not sure about Netflix though I understand that many shows they get tend to come in a year after the airing date. I'm watching it on Amazon as I have a prime account. I prefer paying a dollar or two per episode to watch when I want instead of knocking myself out to meet television scheduling so that works for me.

I am liking the show myself and I do recall reading one of the books in that series but I haven't been able to find it. Its a good show but I think I still prefer the books to television for some reason.... I'm strange that way I guess. lol!

I know you can get it on iTunes, and possibly amazon streaming. I just watch it live each sunday, and record it on my DVR.

I like to rewatch them from time to time.

Started watching this online recently, and I like it. What struck me as funny is that the two sisters' names are Freya and Ingrid. Freya is of course the name of the Germanic goddess, while Ingrid means "Ing is beautiful/lovely/loved/fair", and the name of Ing is usually associated with Frey, so the sisters' names combine both Freya and Frey. Coincidence or clever writing by the author?

Totally forgot about this show. (There's so many good shows to keep track of it gets difficult.)

I watched the whole first season. It was good. I wasn't really impressed with Freya but I love Ingrid and the Aunt. Watched the first episode of the 2nd season and then completely forgot about it. (Distracted by True Blood and the Strain). Gotta go get catched up...

I really like both shows actually. I quit watching Lifetime bc they cancelled that show (WOEE). I saw Secret Circle on Netflix, so I did a marathon of it one weekend, lol.
