CelticGypsy
Watched this film othernite. Not to bad I guess very 70`s in the way it was made. Much like the entity or poltergiest . I've been wanting to see this. Number one Son said it was very good, and based on the experiences of Paranormal Investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The movie came and went so fast in town, I didn't even know it was there and gone until today. LoL ! I'll wait till it's out on DVD. Regards,Gypsy
RoseRed
I like the Warrens.
RavenFlyer
The warrens are proven frauds and I have zero respect for the charlatans. However, as a movie I thought this was a decent story until the last 30 minutes or so. What the movie turned into has been done over so many times it just doesn't have an affect on me. The first half of the movie was good and built up a lot of suspense and tension, but the ending just felt way too overdone and exaggerated. Plus the whole blame it on the witch message was irritating.

RavenFlyer
http://www.mmdnewswire.com/brothers-sue-world-famous-psychic-lorraine-warren-for-false-accusations-in-devil-book-2347.html http://swallowingthecamel.blogspot.com/2009/05/ghostbusters-ed-and-lorraine-warren.html?m=1 http://www.ghostresearch.org/articles/amityville.html That's just a few websites. But ultimately they almost ways find a "demon" in the bkie and not just a ghost or spirit. They are associated with Paranomal State (tv show) which is rather fraudulent in and of its self. OpheliaRose
Movie was decent. It kept my attention the whole time but I feel it was a little too black and white. The Warrens were just so godly and perfect and...boring!
Jevne
I just watched this cause I am bored and procrastinating grading homework. Not bad, as far as cheesy, 70s-type movies go. If I had not seen this thread, I would have had no idea that the Warrens were real people. That said, I thought it was good; kept my attention most of the time. CelticGypsy
I saw this recently as well. I found other movies more shocking that stayed with me, than this particular one. My Himself tossed out an odd question. " How come it's only RC priests that the Warrens go too ? ... what is the RCC hiding in their cloaks in regards to "possession" ? Why not the Lutheran clergy or any clergy for that matter, if they are following those standard biblical principals ? " " I just replied " The RCC is deceptive in all their doctrine and dogma, Dear ". :rolleyes_witch: Regards,Gypsy
Belwenda
I think the "posessed" always go to the RCC because that body has a formal process- rite- for excorcism - which seems to work ; at least in some cases ( see "The Excorcist"), it's just a spell ...right? Do the other churches have that kind of thing?- (as I was reared in the RCC - don't really know about other faiths)

Himself just had a legitimate question as to why only the RCC. We were both reared under that establishment too. Good to see you btw. Regards,Gypsy
Cam
I'm not RC, but I think they are better known for exorcism. Were the Warrens RC? If yes, that would probably explain it.
Evergreen47
Speaking as someone who was raised in a Pentecostal church that did perform exorcisms, I think the RCC gets more of the attention because 1) it's a more well-known practice and 2) the RCC is more ritualistic and dramatic -- this lends itself well to film. That's just my opinion though. For an exorcism movie NOT centered on the RCC, you could watch The Last Exorcism. That one features an Evangelical exorcist. Sarafina
I have to agree with RavenFlyer about the Warrens. I never did like them and always felt they were a fraud. I lived in CT, in a town next to were the "Haunting in Connecticut" supposedly happened. I never heard about it, it was never in any newspapers or on the news. I even asked my mom about it and she never heard any thing. I just read a story, a few weeks ago, about a family who was haunted and the spirits were friendly, they had no problems, but as soon as the Warrens came in, there was a dark female spirit who appeared and was trying to remove the mother and take her place because it was her home and she wanted to be with the husband. I think the Warrens were not there to help, but rather then to stir up chaos so they could make money off of it. As for the movie Conjuring, I have not seen it. My daughter just last night was wanting me to watch it with her, lol. But with my 21 month old still up, I did not want her to see it. Not that she would full understand it all, but I knew it could get a little scary and did not want her to see that. And I do believe the Warrens were/are RC. Grymdycche
As someone who got into ghost hunting for a while, and did a lot of research, I have to say I agree with RavenFlyer. The Warrens are a credibility liability to the whole field, I have no respect for them.

Yanagi
I watched it with my roommate the other day..she spent most of the movie watching my ridiculous reactions - I jump at almost anything. The first half of the movie was pretty good, but the ending was a bit disappointing. I really liked "hide and clap", too. Scared the hell out of me, lol. foxman
I prefer the Wickerman with Christopher Lee. I saw the modern version of it and I thought it was zilch! The Wicker tree was really crap! Nothing like the original story to get your heart pumping and wishing you were there..."Summer is a-coming in...!"
