I'm getting married in the morning...

...on a day in 2009 :D.

My partner Chris proposed to me on Christmas eve, when he got back from work, lol.

We're planning on sometime in 2009 but I'm completely clueless of how it all works. I'm a shy kind of person so I'm actually dreading most of it, having to say things in front of loads of people terrifies me... and then theres the dance thing that you have to do at the reception  while everyone is watching and getting drunk. (well everyone except us since we don't drink!)

So... I'm probably not looking forward to it as much as I should be really all because of my stupid social anxiety and worrying that people will laugh at me if I show that I really care about something.

I'm not too sure how the first kiss is going to work either. I mean my step-dad goes mad if someone puts there arm around me while we are in his or my moms 'presence'. I couldn't even hug my partner last year for my presents since we opened them at my moms.

Thanks for the advice :).

I'm still not sure about my step-dad though. He used himself as an example when he had a go at me the once saying how even when married he doesn't hug/touch/kiss my mom in public or around family members (which is actually a load of BS). So... I don't think being married is going to change that :S.

Anyway, thanks again :).

Congratulations on such lovely news!!! Remember as the Bride you have complete say in what you do on your special day. So you don't have to say anyhing, or do the first dance thing if you don't want to. I got married in a castle and we had a meal for 20...our closest people. there were no speaches or dancing, so it was very stress free for everyone. Don't worry about your step-dad! He will not want to spoil your big day!! :hugs:

Thank you Tana.

I'm the kind of person that gets pushed into things 'cause I don't want to let anyone down. But that said... I'm going to try :).

Can always just elope if things get bad, lol. ;)

Congrats!!!!!!!! :D thats awesome news to start the new year with!!!!

The great thing about weddings is that you nad your partner get the last say, so do what you want to do, its your day and a day to celebrate ur union with ur partner and no one should tell u how to act or react :) I'd say if u dont want to dance or do a speech dont, :) there are so many beautiful wedding traditions to follow which makes it all the more fun to research and add to your own special day!!!!!! :D

I think its already started :(.

My step-dad asked me yesterday where I was having it. I replied saying a registry office. Then... he goes off on one, saying how everyone who he knows has gotten married in a registry office is now divorced and I SHOULD be having a church wedding!

It was irrelevant that I know a few people that have gotten married at a registry office and are still together, since HE didn't know them!

My partners parents got married in one and they have been together 40ish years!

That eloping idea is looking more tempting, lol. ;)
