The long and twisting road

It has been a long time since I have updated this blog. But as I have finished my work early, and need a short break from work and magic studies I figured I would update my blog about some of what I have been working on lately.     For those here that know me know I have a strong connection with voodoo as well as hoodoo. However, for the last little bit I have felt that connection wane. This is not to say that these spirits have abandoned me nor I them. It is to say, however, that they have ste

Saint Expedite-and fast luck oil recipe. Some Hoodoo Magic

Saint Expedite is an interesting enigma amongst the catholic saints in that is impossible to actually prove that Saint Expedite existed at all. His existence can only be found in the martyrologies. His appearance is that of a Roman Centurion bearing a cross in his right hand with the word Hodie engraved on it, and crushing a crow beneath his foot cawing out the word cras. Hodie translates to Today, and cras translates to tomorrow. So it is seen that St. Expedite is the patron saint of speedy res

Erzulie Freda - patron Loa

Erzulie Freda is the loa that I work with most of all. Of course before doing any ritual work with any Loa you must first ask Papa Legba to open the gates and give him an offering in order to make contact with the other Loa. She is traditionally seen as a pale skinned Loa, sometimes referred to as mulatto or even white skinned. Erzulie Freda is the Loa of love, finery, beauty, jewelry, dancing, luxuries, and flowers. It is said that she has 3 husbands. All of them Loas in their own rights. Dam

La Madama - Patron Spirit for playing card readers and bone casters

La Madama is not an Orisha or Loa, but she is venerated by many practitioners within african diaspora faiths. She is the spirit of an old slave conjure woman.   La Madama is the patron of playing card readers and bone readers, the latter a link to her past on the African continent. As a conjure woman, she carries the wisdom of all the old rootworkers from the past. She is the patron of root doctors, and as a spirit guide, she may be called upon by conjure doctors who seek information when fa

Can't go home again

So I visited my parents last weekend in my home town. I hadn't been over since easter time, I believe. The town is small, and there isn't anything to do in the traditional sense of going out and having a good time. So itc ultimately leads to sitting at my parent's home, watching tv, and talking. All of that is fine, but this time there was just a major disconnect. I didn't start feeling the energy until I was harvesting pieces from my grandmother's rose bush. I don't know what I expected when I

Back in the holler of fog and smoke

So my day back in these mountains has been a fun one. Began the day going to a couple of small flea markets in a small town. My mom, my niece and I ate a small old time drive up restaurant. The excursion to the flea market was a success in finding an affordable copper bowl I was lookin for to include in my woodland garden to use as a scrying bowl. And A couple of goodies to sale in my etsy store. The day would have been perfect if not for a pounding headache. The pollen seems to be a lot wors

Who will watch the home place?

I have traveled back to the place where I was born and raised to celebrate Easter with my family. It will sadly be an abbreviated trip due to my work shedule and having to work Sunday evening from 4pm to 12am. But nonetheless I am back in the house that my mother grew up in, and I lived in from 12 years old to 24. Before that we lived in the house next door. Since my grandmother died in 1994 my family moved back into the house. Renovations were done, and like most old houses with renovations ha
